Well yankee, there's a fine line between vanity and taking care of yourself. I don't think you're crossing it. You should take pride in how you look. I'm also with you on cosmetic surgery. I have a friend who had a nose job and, I don't know, it just seemed like kind of a shallow thing to do. I haven't gotten surgery for my scar and I don't think I will, it's a part of who I am and it represents experiences I've had. I would probably get plastic surgery if something horribly disfiguring happened to me, but, of course, I'd like to have my old face back, not anything new.

On the subject of taking care of yourself, I am staging a protest against both the college requirment for a gym class and the teacher who tried to bullshit me about it being a fitness and wellnes class. He even tried to sugar coat it with something about them not wanting me to learn all this junk and die at 28. I will be drinking myself stupid, eating shit that actually tastes good and I may even start smoking again, a celibration of everything that makes the body fall apart as my way of saying "fuck you." I will be doing this for the same reason I do most things, because hurting the people who deserve it would have legal consequences.

It does both. One thing I learned my freshman year was that I didn't know a damn thing. I do now, thankfully. I'm going to grad school for library science beginning in August. I think the two degrees should give me a good background. From what I've been told, journalism is a good background for library science.

Although-- trying to improve your appearance isn't always vanity.

I'm not against improving yourself.

The Bible says that your body is a temple and I try to keep it like that.
But physcically chaning something on mine with a surgery or something I feel is shallow and vain and that there beatifull they way they are.

Anyways, I've gotten used to it. So what if I haven't gone swimming in 4 years because I get made horribly made fun of.
I've just learned to keep my shirt on and avoid going into the water.

My body is a temple

Which is why I routinely make animal blood sacrifices to it, fill it with holy smoke, and keep it covered under a giant shroud of cloth.

Still, noone warned me that temples crap.

Another thing.

Every so often that I go onto the General forum, i'm assualted with three or four topics about relationship problems.

Now, my idea was to just set up a central post for all of these things, The Offical Relationship Topic.

But since my I have almost no power backing me up on this, I can't do a thing about it.

Any thoughts. Maybe a little Mod power to help me here.

I'd say e-mail a mod who's active in General forum a lot about it, see what they say.

And as far as e-mailing mods go, if someone here has a problem with me or my actions here in politics, e-mail ME, not one of the other mods. I realize I've been acting like a fruitcake lately, but I am not so fargone as to be unreasonable when someone e-mails or IM's me about a problem, k?

I don't see my body as a temple. I see it more as a Grecian god. So, really, my body isn't a temple, but there should be temples erected to worship it.

I'm french, meaning hair is abundant everywhere but the good place. I like to think it helps me look like a luberjack.

Anyway I wanted to see if I could hang from the top of the door by my legs. The first issue was getting my legs up there, whichw as dependant on my suprising flexability. I decided to brace myself with my arms and swing into position. Doorknob meets a knee later I'm habbeling and swearing so loud some of you might have heard it. Long story short. They need to put some better shows on tv on fridays

Dude, it you're hanging out with people that can't handle seeing a couple bits of flab hanging off your chest then you need to find some friends who have at least advanced past middle school.

You made me remeber the 7th grade-- this boy was so impressed with his belly hair (he was the only one that got body hair--) that, I swear to God, he spent most of PE lifting up his shirt to show everyone...

I mean, he would call it, "The Love Trail".

LoL
*La Juventud...*

My mom is hairless. Genetically, she doesn't grow any hair on her legs, auxileries, or arms. My sister wasn't fortunate...

But as for me--
I wasn't lucky enough to obtain the whiskers or goatee that I've always wanted in High School... or the side burns. Legs on hair, arms, and belly--

And none at the places that counted: chest and face--

OMG...
My friend is a gym nazi--

He said, "Let's strip... it'll be fun." I was thinking about something else, and was like, "Err-- emm-- err..."

He explained it to me. Do the heavest weight until your muscle "fails"... go to the next weight ASAP... do it till it fails again... and repeat.

I did my triceps... I swear to you, at the end... I was grunting with one pound. There is no rest between each rep. It's a burn I've never felt before...

But I feel happy.
It was very short. That's what I like--

Sounds like you'd sooner tear a muscle doing that then get stronger. Maybe there's some kind of secret weight builder witchcraft that I'm not aware of...

They don't get invited to the parties where the good shit happens dispite rights and natually this pisses them off a little.

It's actually a good way to cap off a workout since your muscles are already loose by then. I used to do burn-outs where you do as much as you normally do on a lift and you do as much as you can and then take off as little weight as possible and do as many as you can again and you keep going until it's just the bar. That will burn deep down into your muscles.

Another good method is isometrics, where you take a weight, dosen't have to be a particularly big one, and hold it out with an extended arm for as long as you can. I find it's a good balance to the high weight work I do.
