Full Metal Jacket was good, however Apocalypse Now is the best war movie in the history of film, bar none.

Agreed.
But Deer Hunter is also up there.
Bridge of the River Kwai.
And.
How we won the War.

I couldn't find the original, how's "redux"?
Oh by the way, anyone else seen crimson tide (and loved it)?

I own redux. Not sure why, I think we had the original on VHS or something, and just came across a good deal for redux on DVD. Redux is much longer, something like 40 minutes of additional footage, so it's a commitment to sit down and watch. Most people complain about the add'l footage not being that great / not adding to the film, but I'd rather watch the extra. It fleshes out the characters a bit more, and just lengthens the experience.

I love Apocalypse Now. Then again, I also loved Heart of Darkness, so it's understandable.

That movie makes no sense.
It looks like an acid tripers perception of war.

Chef: Lance, hey Lance. What do you think?
Lance: It's beautiful.
Chef: What's the matter with you? You're acting kinda weird.
Lance: Hey, you know that last tab of acid I was saving? I dropped it.
Chef: You dropped acid?... Far out.

Read Heart of Darkness. They basically adapted the book to the Vietnam War and Apocalypse Now as the result. It makes a lot of sense and you really get the subtleties of you read the book.

And of course the fact that it confused you completely destroys any value it might have.

I noticed something really interesting when I was at Oakland today--
International Blvd:
Half side is Black. Other side is Mexican.
I would think the Black and Latino communities would sorta mix up a little--
So sad...
Considering the similarities-- such as the love for pickled pigs feet...
I kid, I kid...

I remember that song! It was on the Bob and Tom radio show one morning. It was performed live at a proctologists convention...

I guess I'm just not Southern enough to understand the fascination with pickled pig's feet. It just doesn't seem like there would be a lot of meat on them to fuss over.
That, and chicken necks/backs. I've got an aunt who just LOVES those things, and will eat them by the plate full doused in Frank's Red Hot sauce. Blegh, just give me some buffalo wings...

I realized that franks is not a suitable chicken wing sauce afterall. Joes is where it's at. mm. Much thicker and hotter, but flavorful at the same time.

Yeah, except Wash dies. That was pretty surprising. It was a great movie, though, gotta love the underlying plot.

In all fairness, the entire series was just a little longer than the movie
