I didn't think any sort of creature could live long shrink-wrapped in styrofoam. Meh. You should have just ate them out somewhere. I've never prepared squid, had it at a.... Japanese restaurant or something.
You probably ruined your deep fryer. The wifey is going to be pissed.

Ok I forgot the lemon pepper but other then that it wasn't too bad. I think next time I'll go a little bolder than garlic salt and paprika, possibly some chilli powder.
Earlier today I rolled a hot dog in flour and chili powder then deep fried it and I'll be damned if it wasn't the best hot dog I have ever had in my life.
My stomach is a little upset, I think my wife should come home soon.

*smack upside head*
It is not fried squid. It's kalamari!!!
I can't believe how much people charge for it at these brewaries/restaurant places... I once paid 30 bucks and it wasn't that good. I had to... I lost a bet or something...
And it's SO easy to make. And pretty cheap too.
Another thing I learned by hanging around the nutty white people at SCU: They LOVE kalamari. My husband's friend paid 50 bucks for it at this one ritzi place at Redding, CA. *shudder*
Redding...
*gag*
Anyways... the recipe.
1 pound of squid
1 cup of flour.
1 dash of salt.
1 dash of pepper.
3 teaspons of parsley
Drop some of the cut up squid pieces in it and fry it up in vegetable oil. Or you can do what I do and sautee it in olive oil for a more delicate taste.
Costs less than 10 bucks. If you already have the stuff and just bought the squid... I say 3 bucks at most for a pound, or cheaper if you look really well.

Really? You can get it for like 10-15$ as an appetizer in a lot of restaurants in Montreal. It's pretty good and the portions aren't bad either (by Canadian standards).
I had to... I lost a bet or something...
You lost a bet so you had to eat kalamari? What kind of bet is that?
I'd lose bets if it entailed eating kalamari as a "consequence"....

It is not fried squid. It's kalamari!!!
He was using fried as a verb, not an adjective.
For example, what makes more sense as a response to this question:
"What did you do today?"
A) "I fried squid"
B) "I kalamari"

No-- I had to buy it. That was the consequence of losing the bet.

I don't like the idea of paying 30 bucks for something I could make for less than 10 bucks at home... Especially when we got a small basket.

So you couldn't fry it yourself.
Hell, you should by them some nice Cod instead. Cod, sprinkled with Bread crumbs and baked.
With a side of Potatoe and a small salad.
Thats a good dinner.

I don't think I have cod other than cod roe... sushi style.
But then again, I may have had it without knowing it.
There are several words I don't know in English-- especially names of fish, certain fruit and vegetables, and etcetra.
I didn't know till may 5 months ago that huachinango was red snapper. I love tuna (not the fish... the fruit). I was like 15 until I found out that the English name for tuna was prickly pear fruit. (God, that stuff is amazingly good.)
And Huitlacoche-- which is incredibly cheap and so much better than truffles-- is the Aztec name for the English "corn smut". What is more, I also found out the US growers here destroy their corn crops whenever that stuff crows on the ear. And in Mexico, it's a delicacy-- Oh well...
There's a bunch of names that I'm still trying to figure out, but I can't think about them anymore.

I don't know what's going on with Subway, but it's like they've cut their portions in half... I used to be able to eat one of their footlong subs and not want anything else to eat practically the rest of the day. I got a foot long Italian BMT there the other day, and after finishing it went, "That's it? You've got to be kidding me."
I want to know when those fuckers are going to bring back the stamp program.

If your ever up in Plymouth, I'll take you out fishing and you can catch your own Cod or Haddock, or Stripped Bass, of Flounder Blue fish.
But then again, I may have had it without knowing it.
Know you know if you have cod.
Most Fish and Chip recipees now use Dogfish or sandshark instead of Cod or Haddock.
Truth be told though, I love the Mountains and the Woods more then the Ocean.

A few quick things about me; I added an 'r' to the end of my account name, just because I couldn't stand having an underscore without something to justify it. And Skvnk, notice my sig? Since I whore out some IRC channels that I frequent, I thought I would add some ad space for SOAR. Mind?
So I'm basically awesome.
