Well, telling people to consume (or watch something) is non-political, but telling people not to consume (ie to boycott) is political.

Life in Yokosuka just got a little shittier. Some retard murdered a Japanese National in a train station. Right now, all sailors in Yokosuka have been given a curfew for midnight. No one (except the law enforcement people involved) knows what ship the murderer is on (my bet is on the Kitty Hawk), but life is going to REALLY suck for everyone on that ship... unless it's the Kitty Hawk, then life will continue on as normal because no one really gets suprised anymore when someone from that ship causes an international incident.

Kity Hawk...
Err...
You should keep that type of info private because law enforcement may pin something on you.
I don't know...
I've been in quite a few robberies when I worked in the bank.
But I never tell any info to anyone else not working in my branch. Cause if I said, "Oh... so and so branch got robbed, again... because they don't fix that ceiling or remove that ladder." If something happened, and if police traced it back to me (and it has happened)... then I go into jail too.
:-(
LOL... I used my workshirt today because I didn't have clean laundry...

No, if they do it twice in a row, you don't give them a chance for three. You have been schooled. Now back to work *cracks the whip*

Naw, just someone who likes to bore people... because it's so boring. El Espinazo Del Diablo in Durango (represent) Mexico, however is said to have been fabricated by the devil :P The name simply translates to "The Devil's Spine" and boy is it ever bumpy, what with the Mexican government not being able to afford to permanently fix the potholes, and the impossibility of widening the roads that aren't even two car widths wide and teeter on the edges of steep jagged cliffs. When a semi comes barelling your way downhill when you're headed up, there's nowhere to go but reverse.
The deadliest road in the world though is the trail in La Paz, Bolivia, ironically translated to "The Peace." It's so steep you can only descend the incline while on the breaks, and you can only climb it in first gear. It's also famous for it's beautiful scenery, not just it's savage terrain and sudden dropoffs with high probability of death.
I present to you a pic taken from the Devil's Spine by a photographer. Funny you can't even see the road because of how unstable and inconcise it is.

On someone mentioning something earlier about fresh, or original topics (something along those lines, I'm too lazy to go back and check): http://www.newground../topic.php?id=408857
I tried... now I have to wait and see if the spark can at least ignite the kindling. That's not a noob trap either, I seriously want to hear what people have to say about that. With the exception of BeFell, I have forseen what he will say @.@ "mumble... mumble.. Mormon... mumble... special underpants... mumble mumble... George Bush... mumble Bob Dole... Bob Dole... Sucks to be the murderer. Japanese prison is no joke. I don't expect he'll get much mercy considering he murdered an old woman by beating her to death and stealing her money. Add to that the fact that the Japanese just don't like foreigners.

YOKOSUKA, Kanagawa -- A U.S serviceman aboard the USS Kitty Hawk has been taken into custody by U.S military officials over suspicions about his involvement in the murder of a 56-year-old woman, it has been learned.
Now... is it just me or is that horrible sentence structure? "It has been learned" when the fuck to you end a sentence on that phrase? -.- Lord help these people find other jobs.

Well, he was sort of asking for it, then. I think it's a common sense issue not to murder and rob old ladies.

journalism doesnt care about phonics and grammer, they care about how well a phrase sounds and if it grabs attention to the reader.
you'll notice it a lot in any newspaper story, especially in the first paragraph. they want to tie you in so they use short percise sentences that get to the point
"woman murdered in japan. US service man involved."
instead of
"A 56 year old woman in japan was murdered in the ____ district of _____ the other day. A service man on the US navy ship the USS Kitty Hawk has been taken into costudy by Military Police. Our sources tell us that he may have been involved in the murder."
the second one may be more gramatically correct, but the first one gets the point across in two small sentences.

sort of, you do see sentences get longer and more gramatically correct as an article gets into the story. but i'm saying that in the first paragraph, the writer is still trying to grab you so that you read the whole article.
thats why many times, at the beginning of articles, within the first paragraph usually, the sentences aren't exactly perfect english.

The first paragraph is to get across the most amount of information in the least possible space. It's to grab the interest of the reader, sure, but you're usually trying to cram all the essential info in there. Of course, depends on the medium. But when you're working with space constraints like 500-1k words, you begin to understand and can empathize.

Oh, but everyone and anyone I know remotely in the field would call that a horrible sentence. The last bit is totally unnecessary. Making sentences that don't make sense and are unduly long is totally contrary to what you're trying to accomplish.

Headlines... you've got to love the headlines. A story about how a group of fighting roosters escaped in downtown isn't very interesting, but tag on the headline of "ANGRY COCKS TERRORIZE TOWN" and suddenly everyone is interested. :-)

It's a big dream for us to get merchendice and advertisers so that writing for the endless crew can become a full time job, mainly because all other options for adulthood scare the crap out of me.
