I've heard a bit of a NGPOLI awards thingie. As far as I know, Redskunk is the guy to talk to if you think we should have a public nomination thread.

What's with all the black people? I was under the impression black people don't get a higher education, mostly because George Bush doesn't care. Your mascot is a turtle?

Rugby messed it up so totally and completely last year that nobody wants to attempt another.

University of Maryland graduates more black men and women than any other public university in the country, despite Bush's best attempts to imprison all of them. And yeah, our mascot is a roaring turtle, cuz that's how we roll.
To be fair, our school has more practicing Jews in it than practicing Christians...

There was misltetoe in the film, that's gotta be super offensive, you guys should have your president removed. And I noticed there were no gay or lesbian couples in the video, granted there were no straight couples either but any college video that excludes gays and lesbians is obviously bigoted.

The music was Mark Mothersbaugh, and he's a BIG TIME Subgenius. If the average Christian were to hear what happens during an X-Day drill. All I have to say is "Flag bagging" and "nude blood wrestling"

I used the exact same layout we had used the year before, the only problem was when we had a tie and decided to extend voting. was it you who was tied or no?

You want to do IRV this time? I've got this nifty software that pretty much can do any type of voting you want, it even does several variations on Condorcet.
This way we can stop people who vote for people other than the two important nominees from having an effect.

Am I the only one that finds the topic below, an analogy of Interstate Highways having sex and promiscuious children somewhat hilarious?
Key Quote:
"I guess that means I-64 starts her life as a bisexual swinger (with 55
and 70). :) She must get knocked up by her next boyfriend I-57, and
proceed to have two of his kids (I-164 IN and I-264 KY)."
So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we had the key...

I thought my thread would at least be understood by a few people. You even failed me, staff. I never said that intoxicated people showed higher brain activity or intelligence or anything, in fact, I said in there that people under the influence did worse, however, I said that while sober, a lot of alcohol over the past few months caused their brain to become more active and retain memories better.
I should have posted it in politics.
Think you're pretty clever...

I just didn't know where to run with it, so I settled on keeping it high on listing.
Was more of a watch and laugh thread than a post and laugh.

Borda is extremely succeptible to strategic voting. Assume that there's an election between Republicans Democrats, Libertarians and Nazis. Assume that republicans like libertarians more than democrats and democrats like libertarians more than republicans. Everyone except nazis hate nazis.
If the Republicans vote RLDN, as that is the honest representation of their views, R gets 3 points, Libertarians 2, Democrats 1 and Nazis 0.
If the Democrats vote DNLR, a very inaccurate representation, Democrats get 3, Nazis 2, Libertarians 1 and Republicans 0.
Borda fails if there are stakes that affect the voters or if grudges exist. IRV and Condorcet are very resistant to this sort of thing.

You would bring up stategic voting and completely ingore the flaw of cycling in condorcet voting?
Let's use exhaustive voting, sure it's exhaustive, but it's fair... ish.

Hey, we have to have some token scapegoat.
Pretend you're related to Colin Mochrie, and people may like you more. Everybody loves Colin Mochrie. He's the best thing out of Canada since [note to self: fill in with important Canadian product].
But wait, he's from Scotland originally. I think.

I've been sick for the last few days. Good times.
<3 to red skunk for nominating me in general. I was always pretty sure no one was actually listening all this time rofl, and apparently I have an email from you I need to take care of. My short run in politics has been a grand old time so far, I may keep hanging around here.
The holidays seriously couldn't come fast enough this year I could really use the days off.
