Good to see you again skunk. I haven't been around as much lately. I have somewhat of a full plate at the moment.

And since when did Germans discover the computer, I thought America kept it a secret.

I brought one with me by mistake... You know, they are a very industrious people. With this technology, I think some more of you might want to start learning the language....

May Day... that's... insane. That's the matter late Phillip K. Dick novels are made of.
INSANITY.

Mein gott... When I type in google.com, it automatically redirects me to google.de...... Anyways.. I'm in the extreme SW of Germany (red dot). Coincidentally, I have a HS friend in the military, who is currently stationed in Germany (blue dot). It's only about 100mi away. Say.. forty minutes on die autobahn 6? =P We're definitely meeting up sometime, go to a biergarten or two.

Yeah, looking back I'll prolly be glad I went. But right now, I'd give anything to be back in the states. It's not that I miss anyone -- or anything -- in particular. In the US I can walk around cities I've never been before, and feel at home. But here.. I think the primary reason I'm not enjoying myself right now, is just this feeling of being so utterly helpless, barely being able to speak the language. Of being so foreign and alien. It's not even that different from back home. The weather, the trees, the occasional pasture of cows. Hell, the people feel the same until they open their mouths....

Meh. I just wish I could find the thing I had read about the various emotional states one goes though. Because I'm definitely in a lull, although I thought people were suppose to peak at first. =\

The language barrier is tough. I remember talking about languages with a person who was studying linguistics one time. Apparently, a society's language reflects or shapes their culture significantly. The Greeks had one of the most philosophical and scientific societies of all time and their language was very intricate and detailed. The German language, in particular, is somewhat rough and aggressive, draw whatever conclusions from that you will.

I've always thought it's the other way around. And I wouldn't say a society's culture per se, but more like the origins of that culture. German was born from the language of the barbarian Germanic tribes, and that's it. End of story. Sure, it evolved a lot during the following centuries, but the base of the language is there. English was born from the language of the germanic tribes, and of the Normans who settled in the islands. And a little bit of latin and greek here and there.
Spanish was born from some latin, some greek, some arabic, and the germanic tribes again.
And so on.
Plus, then how comes Russian doesn't have as many umlauts as German does?

Cyrillic alphabet.

Plus, you'll notice that I said that language reflects or shapes. It's a chicken and the egg type of connundrum.

On the subject of halloween costumes I've been thinking for a while that with all the working out I've been doing I would love to dress as batman and actually pull off the look. yes I'm a geek
To explore my capability to do this I present to you the recent picture that commemorated the milestone of lifting 350. As this was a special occasion I swear to all of you that this is the only time I will ever post this picture in the lounge. Yes I know my face looks puffy.

I don't know if you're cut enough to be batman, you have more of a Bane build than Batman.

Congrats on 350, I'm assuming it's benchpress. That's quite an achievement. By the way, the crazy scotsman look you have? Not quite Batman-esque.

Yeah I still have some bulk to get out, but a couple months of sit ups and decreased snacking should take care of that. Plus the batman mask would hide the beard I really need to trim more regularly

so? i'm dressing up as Link from the Zelda series.

i saw the screen shots of the twilight princess and the graphics are very good i could totally pull off a costume.

i also have some of the basic body type of Link, i'm about the right age ish, a kind of straggly but strong physical condition. and my hair, when bleeched looks exactly right. my face also has a longer nose and ears that go out more then usual. and a kind of slender facial structure.

all i need is some mideavil type cloak material for a tunic. and some hemp type pants. which i could totally make on my own.

but instead of a the usual green tunic. i'm thinking either a white (if you recall UBER link and from the original NES game). or a red one like in ocorina of time.

Reguardless whether or not the mask covers the beard, I gotta agree with Gunter here 100%. Def more Bane-ish. And just think, if you did dress up as Bane, it would be something unique. I can't say I've ever seen someone who has worn that get-up before.

Those are words to live by.

I think you could pull off a Batman by shaving some pounds, though, staff. Now, since we're on the subject, if I was a dork, at least the comic book kind, since I guess being an engineering student makes me a dork by default, I would make a pretty decent Spiderman. I'm pretty cut. Then again, I don't dress up... for anything... definately not when I'm alone at my mom's house and I'm rummaging around in her closet. Nope, not then, I'm a manly man.
