For the record, Proteas, child hentai is not illegal in the United States. I did research on it, and the USSC declared in the 90's that since it was only drawn, and no minors were actually exploited, it was legal to own. Hey wraith, I had to let go of a lot of friends in the past 3 years, so I know where you're coming from. One by one I've lost my three best friends, all over circumstance and bullshit. Sometimes I feel like my life is defined by the number of times I've had to walk away while I still had a chance. I've always been a freakishly misanthropic loner which has made me both emotionally strong, but has also made me emotionally insensitive. As I get older, I'm slowly becoming less and less like everyone else, which is probably the exact opposite of what I should be doing. Worse, I get the feeling opening up emotionally to the people that are around me is only going to bring them down. It's almost like I'm wired backwards compared to everyone else mentally. To me a good friend is a person who helps me have good times, not a person who helps me deal with the bad ones. It's my responsibility to deal with my own problems; I shouldn't push them on other people. As a result people feel less comfortable sharing their problems with me, despite the fact that helping my friends deal with their problems has up to this point been something I've used as a way to value myself.

Worse yet, I see society as a whole around me becoming increasingly shallow and petty. I get the feeling that the kind of people that I could get along with don't exist anymore, that somehow emotional maturity and strength are traits that are neither fashionable, prevalent, nor encouraged anymore. Basically that corporations and television are trying to turn us all into sobbing whores, so that we can buy more dinky overpriced trinkets and makeup to express our pain. They teach us to judge by appearances, which they then sell to us, as opposed to people simply judging one another by their moral and philosophical standing. You can't just be a good person anymore, you have to buy a certain type of outfit to prove it or noone believes you.

I'm fairly certain the only solution to this problem is for me to just be the best influence on the next generation I can. That might just be my paternal instinct kicking in, though. Just because I have a penis doesn't mean I don't feel the need to nurture, afterall.

My vehicle isn't highway drivable... :(

It is just a little banged up Nissan Sentra, but it only cost $200. Great price, but I can't go anywhere out of town with it. Also, I don't fly, so taking a plane was out of the question.

I plan on going next year though, but the only way I'll make it is if a friend tags along with me, since he will be driving. I think we are driving to Canada next summer as well. This guy has an amazing sense of adventure. Just the other day he goes,

Trust me, I researched when the AAHC was posting links to it everywhere. It was outright illegal until the USSC handed down a decision declaring it legal for adults to own. It's illegal for minors to own/view, so that was the loophole I found. Therefore, links would be verboten here.

Since we're sharing, my IRL friends (of which I have like...uh...three or so, seriously, I'm just not a horribly social creature in reality, many of you found this out at modcon) only one is really someone I'm not pissed at at the moment, but it's like, he's a bad person to talk to when drama hits because he just don't get it, and tries to compare it to his own shit (which isn't to say he's being an ass, he just thinks for whatever reason saying "well hey, could be worse, you could be me" is somehow helpful). So yeah, I know what you're talking about Wraith, I've dropped friends before that I was very close to for 4, 5, one was about 10 years. It's never fun, but it's pretty much always the right thing to do man, certainly sounds it in your case, bravo to you that you had the strength to make such a difficult decision. This concludes my 3 a.m. bitching festival, there will be refreshments served in the lobby.
