Damn, Maus...you look good. I can't think of any other way to describe it. Maybe that'll actually mean something coming from another woman. :D

I love Saturdays. Why? Because I can sleep until 4 pm. Today, it was even easier since it's rained all day.

i dont see why it would matter. the way i see it a compliment is a compliment.

maybe im weird though. but if a chick says i'm attractive its great. and if a dude says i am i dont think it's any less of a compliment, apparently i'm actractive to both sides. too bad i'm not gay or bisexual for the dude though.

along with the international thing: you'll see even more people from around the world as those other countries, mostly former soviet states, begin to have brauder communications systems in their countries. people are getting internet and stuff where there used to not even be phone lines or indoor plumbing not even ten years ago.

i havn't really noticed any increas from different countries, but i have noticed that in recent years more countries are westernizing in eastern europe.

last friday i took my sleeping meds and was out at 10:30pm. wound up waking up at 7am with nothing to do.

last night i didnt take my meds and was up till about 3am, woke up around 2pm today.

i love being able to sleep as long as i wish even if it is once a week and only for a few months.

in about a month i'm back to my old rutine of getting up early every day, weekends and holidays. except saturdays, i hope, this summer

Yes, sleep is good. I was happy I could sleep in today, because during the week, I have to wake up at 6:30 AM to make it to my internship. It starts at 8, but I have to get dressed and whatnot, and I have to take the city's busiest street.

When I worked at the coffeeshop, I had to be up at 4:45 everymorning to catch the 5:40 bus and be at work by 6:15 to open the shop at 7:30.

The only time earlier than that was when my ex and I both had to share a car, and she had to be at work by 5:45 every morning. Up at 4:30, in the car by 5 to drive 30 minutes and drop her off, then drive home and drink coffee and do bong hits until 7, and then drive to work. My lunch hour was spent driving her home, getting a quickie, and driving back to work. Go home at 5, do bong hits, eat dinner, do it again and go to bed. I guess it wasn't that bad, lol.

you know, i bet if you took the time you spent doing bong hits, you could ahve had more sleep.

then again, whats worth being awake if youre not going to live to enjoy it while you are awake?

yeah, in the winter i share a car with my dad, during vacations i have to get up at 5am, drive him to work at 6, and then i'll have to drive to the OTHER side of the county so i can get to work by 7am.

he works an hour away from home and where i work. i also have to pick him up too after work.

and during the summer i have to drive 3 hours to work on sunday mornings and get there by 7am, so i'm leaving the house by 4am on sundays. then i spend the rest of the week getting up at 7:30am.

friday nigth and saturday are the only days i have free during the summer

I must say, I feel deeply sorry for anyone that has to get up early to go to work. I have a couple of friends that have to get up by 4:00 - 5:00 am to get to their jobs on time when that is usually about when I go to bed. Night jobs may detract a little bit from your social life, but the sleep is definately worth it. If your anything like me, being able to go to bed whenever you feel like, still know you can sleep till however late you can, and not have to think about setting an alarm to get up is one of the greatest feelings ever =)

Erm. I didn't do bong hits before the coffeeshop. Just when I had to drop the ex off. And that was because I couldn't go back to sleep by then.

Fuck, thought of this one while looking at a couple of topics in the general forum, but I can't tell if it's funny or not.

I hate dating game type shows, because they always have stupid questions like "If I was a glass of water, how would you drink me?" If someone I knew was a glass of water, I would probably be like "Woah, how the hell did you become a glass of water?" But then later I'd forget, and I'd drink them without thinking, but then I'd realize what I'd done, and panic. I would bury the evidence in a park and spend the rest of my life wracked with guilt for my accidental murder. Anyway, that's why I don't plan on ever being on one of those shows.

Just so you know, there's a pause between "wracked with guilt for my accidental murder" and the final line. I remember someone asked about that, because they didn't know about the pause. I agree with them that no pause would make it a shitty finishing line though.

Thanks.

This is good for me, because whenever I write a joke, I always spend time thinking about how I'm going to deliver it. I always try to think to myself that delivery is at least half the joke.

That really sounds like something Mitch Hedberg would say... it's funny, it's random, and it's just creative enough to sound drug inspired. I like it. :-)

--------------------------------------

And now a page from my closely guarded personal life... I may be attending a funeral some time in the next two weeks. My 88 year old paternal grandfather is slowly dying here at home, from congestive heart failure and prostate cancer which has spread throughout his body. He's told my Mom already that it will be any day now, and I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if he passed on tomorrow. I'll feel sad about his passing on, don't get me wrong, but my main worrying point at the moment is my Dad... the two of them are so close that it's almost like they're married (almost). My dad has already said that he's going to be a basketcase after my grandfather's death, which is not something I'm looking forward to. I've only seen the man cry once in my entire life, and that was scary enough as it was, I can't stand the thought of his being an inconsolable mental case.

And what's worse? My "concerned" Uncle... I can just see him driving up here from state name withheld, attending the funeral, and then promptly coming over to our house and demanding "his share" of all my grandfather's possesions and money while my father is still grieving the loss of their father. It's going to get nasty after the funeral, I can just see it now.

For those of you whom believe in it, it would be greatly appreciated if you would keep my family in your prayers for the next few weeks.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping to god that I get a job that starts at 5am. Would be the Post Office, same one my father works at, sorting packages. 40hr weeks at $10 an hour, best I can possibly hope for right now. Will see on Monday. =\

Proteas, I'm going to hope that everything turns out all right for you, but if your uncle does decide to show up and be a complete bastard, you may just have to stand up to him and tell him that it's an extremely bad time to discuss the matters, and it would save everybody a lot of pain, aggravation and resentment if he'd come back later, when people have coped and are ready to discuss things reasonably.

You're probably going to have to be the one to stand up to him in a calm manner, because your dad probably won't be able to. You may have to end up keeping your dad calm to keep things from getting out of hand as well.

I just watched the Shake Hands with the Devil movie. Its so powerful, really expands upon the book by showing the political after math. There is a clip from one Belgian politician who blames the whole thing on the General. He then goes to tell the press in attendance of the meeting that he has tried to set up meetings between widows of the Belgian soliders and Romeo but he has refused. When Romeo approaches him out of the sight of the press (but on camera for the documentary) the politicians says well they havent been able to get a hold of you, then when he says allt hey have to do is write the politician says but they dont know where to write to Romeo yells bullshit and him and walks away.

They way the guy stood as Romeo left you could tell he felt kinda like a douchebag.

Good movie, but I really suggest the book if you want a good look at what happend.

I don't know how that will go... when my paternal grandmother died, it was said that no one could keep my dad calm or consoled. Worst case scenario is that he locks himself in the master bedroom for a few days while he mourns, which is just a wonderfull because that's where all the firearms and ammunition are located.

As far as my Uncle goes, I'll do what I can should the situation arise (and it probably will). It will probably come down to me and my brother providing a physical presence to back-up our mother while she tells our uncle to go screw himself.

I really wish I still had my old "Security" t-shirt.

You don't need to calm him down. It's probably best that he get all his feelings out.

All you need to do is prevent him from beating the shit out of your uncle. If violence comes in to the picture, it can be really messy to clean up.

Indeed, but if violence does occur, it is best to stay out of the situation all together. Dont want to get mixed up in a family fued.

Proteas, you're not the only one with family members like that. When my maternal grandmother died, we all headed to the funeral. The minute she was in the ground, my aunt and uncle started demanding their "fair share" (which was almost everything my grandmother owned). The will left the house to my other uncle and some of the furniture to my mom and other aunt, so that settled most of it. However, when that aunt shows up at that house, we always have to watch to make sure she doesn't take anything. She's done it before.
