All I can say is that this performance ended up being unexpectedly terrific in nature. It was at a school deal where a bunch of bands came to play, and the guy running it said he'd let me do jokes in between bands instead of just playing music from his computer. So basically, when there was a band switch that took a long time, I went up. I did two sets.

First set, I was going to do an introductory joke, but I was getting some feedback from the mic, so I decided to stop moving around and just to a bunch of regular jokes. I was a bit nervous at first, but all my jokes were getting laughs and cheers. Then, the next band was ready, so I wrapped up the set and let them go on. I left the stage-thing to cheers and applause.

Second set, people were yelling at me to go back for more, and as soon as I stood up, the audience went fucking INSANE. I was getting louder cheers than the musical acts had been getting that night. Second set went really well. The only falter was a jokes where I mentioned gays and gayness a few times, and people didn't know whether to be amused or offended. I'm not sure why, as the joke was fairly pro-gay in nature, maybe the layout of the joke just didn't make it appear that way. Anyway, the end of that joke, which is undoubtedly the best part of it, still got a shitload of laughs. This time around, any moment of silence was filled with cheering. When I stopped to put on my sunglasses, or take a drink of water, people took the opportunity to go nuts.

I didn't end up doing a third set, which is ok, but it's kind of lame because I prepared a big list of jokes which was pared down from all of the jokes I had thought up, to just the ones I thought were really funny, and i didn't even manage to get halfway through them. Oh well, extra material for next time, I guess.

I was actually surprised at how well it went. Guess I'm almost as funny as everyone tries to tell me I am.

Congrats Elfer. I don't think I could do stand-up. I'm a really funny guy, but I'm useless without prompting. I'd hate having to set myself up for jokes, I prefer working off of what other people give me. It takes a lot of talent to be good at stand-up comedy, I'm glad that you do well with it. What sort of bits did you do?
