So we're talking about our wardrobes. Hm. That's... well, you know.
Anyways, I have these pants that are somewhere between gray, blue and green. Darling, they're FA-bulous! Ok, crappy joke. But those pants rock, really. I hate most of my t-shirts, though. The only one I like is a rather old Rammstein one, which I bought somewhere in a flea market. And... no, that's the only one. All my other t-shirts suck. I need to buy more.
Oh, and I always wear a dark-red jacket. All the freakin' time.

I'd probably give it somewhere between a 5 and a 7 out of ten, IF it wasn't for the fact that I'm a loser with no life that spends half of his webtime reading webcomics. Quite good webcomics while we're at that. So you get a 3.
Let's see now. Which webcomics do you read anyways? We could start from there, so you can have better references to look at. Hint: Most webcomics that consist strictly of two or three characters, suck. Also, unless you are overwhelmingly funny, your comic should have a plot rather than be gag-based.

Nice look to it, interesting characters... all it needs now is something of a plot. Random jokes are good if your between storylines, but otherwise they tend to get boring after while.

It's pretty good. Granted, I don't really read too many webcomics (just two: Penny Arcade and The Pits) but it's good for just starting out.
Like the "Bus or Something" sign. Like a couple of others have said, just incorporate a story line and develop the characters more, and it'll be great.

Speaking of web comics, if you don't love Perry Bible Fellowship, you're a waste of humanity. (Go on. Try it. You know you want to.)
You may not like the first comic you click on, whichever one it may be. But you will like the second and third ones you try, 'cause if you don't... there's wee-a-boo in it for you, mister.
Thanks to Maus for turning me onto that comic.

I don't think I've ever addressed this directly.
FUNK, you influenced him to research, be informed, and teach himself about what he was doing. He was going to do it anyway (see: his acquaintances,) and without you to tell him about erowid, who KNOWS what could have happened.
Wraith and I are a somewhat alike in the way of druggines. I didn't smoke pot until I was 17. I tripped shortly thereafter. Not too long after that, I rolled for the first time. The difference is he has a mentor in you. I had no-one except my drug-addled 'friends.'
Within 2 years, I was strung out on coke and acid. Like...my roommate and I would split an 8-ball everyday, no exaggeration, and I was eating 15-20 hits of acid on a regular basis. Yes, duh, we were selling. I also had very little idea about what all these different drugs were doing to my brain. It is amazing that I am still here, and functional, let alone able to carry on an intelligent conversation.
Now. If I had someone like you around, I think I would have had a much different experience, been a lot wiser, and better for it. So for the luvvagawd. QUIT BEATING YOURSELF UP OVER IT.

Seriously FUNK, you are a good guy. The fact that you worry proves that above all else. As Maus just said and as I've said before, comming from the other side of that mess makes you a stronger person. Regardless of how it might have been, that knowledge and wisdom had undoubtedly made you a much better man. Besides, you were there right along with the rest of us searching, scratching, looking for anything that would allow us to get ahold of -Wraith- and to help him. It takes a caring person to do that, and you more than proved to the world and to yourself that you do.

Correct.
Although shock humour is among the easiest forms of humour to pull off to a decent degree, it is one of the most difficult to really do well.
This is why it annoys me when some hack just throws around the word "rape" to get some cheap laughs and piss a few people off. It takes no talent or inspiration to make a joke like that.
Shock humour needs to be timely, and it generally needs to be either really goofy or designed to get a certain group of people really angry.
Rape as a shock humour device can be used at any time however, and it can generally be used in any context. This is why it should be used sparingly, and only if you really know how to pull the timing correctly.

Hey, I'm back. I just wanted to say thanks, I guess. For everyone's concern. This is something I've been fighting for a while now, ever since I hit puberty. It's always been there, but throw in the confusion of puberty and raging hormones and it kicks up a notch. To tell the truth, except for some minor downs that have occurred before (like Spring Break, but a temporary girlfriend that was worse off than me emotionally helped me pull through that by comforting her) this is the worst one I've had in a while. They get really bad like this occasionally, but with all the friends and new people I've been making lately, I thought I'd gotten over it. I wish I'd had some people like my current group of friends and you guys when this had happened so long before during jr. high and freshman year. Jr. High was the worst time of it. I was like how I was last night, except all the time. But I though I'd rode out the storm now and it was over, but that re-ocurrence threw all that out the window. It gets that bad when I'm brooding, and when I couldn't get ahold of any of my friends, it just got worse. I really am my worst enemy, as my dad told me.
But, thanks again. And that is that, at least for now.
Are we still on wardrobes? My entire wardrobe is made up of black t-shirts, loose jeans with holes in them, my favorite leather jacket that I got for Christmas and is pretty much a part of me, a symbol of my self-confidence and empowerment (that's how leather jackets are, after all) and some new Reeboks my parents made me get to replace my old shoes. Oh, and a Cherokee bearclaw symbol on a necklace, since I'm part Indian and all that.
Sorry, I'm a little behind. Christ, you all post too much, I can't keep up! =P

I have to disagree...
Rape is an ugly thing. My own mother was raped.
However, I don't think there are holds or bars on anything in the world. If you want true shock value, read up Swift's A Modest Proposal.
Shock value is more then entertainment. It can actually teach.
When I do my stupid traps, I hope that I do teach stuff. Yeah-- I get a lot of people upset when I want to, but at the same time, it's good. It means they're on the verge of understanding of what I'm saying.
I actually did a rape thread that didn't get locked. But surely, a lot of you must know whom I making fun of? I actually think the clown thread is my favorite one.
Well anyways,
I just think it all depends on how you present your material.
Being a trained improvist-- I get away saying with many things at clubs and social circles. It's about timing, how to say it. It's about striking the metal when it is hot, so to speak.

I realize what my problem was. When I first got my guitar, I was pretty much just into rap, techno and that sort of stuff. But now coming back to it, when I'm heavily into all of this guitar driven shit, it really keeps me interested. It hurts to type, but trying to play the same part of Come as You Are with the roommate for an hour or two is a great way to pass the time. Especially when I have that essay looming over my head.
*sigh* guess I'll get to it though. :S

It's scary how much your wardrobe sounds like mine, when I was an angsty teen in south Mississippi.
These days, Shrike wears comfortable clothes. I don't care what, really, so long as it's comfortable. This usually means jeans and a sweater in the winter, and jeans/shorts/tees in the summer.
All in all, I have a rather laissez-faire attitude towards fashion. I don't touch it, and it stays away from me.

I've been trying to locate a complete copy of Susan Bordo's "Hunger as Ideology" essay. I need to write a review on the damn thing it's pissing me off that I can't find one. Google is pissing me off.
If someone could just link a website with it, I would be very grateful. Thanks.

Yea, I did too. Then I started going out on weekends and now I'm hardly ever home. Just because it says I'm online doesn't mean I'm there. I'm only on generally on school nights. You're not alone in that, Empanado. I've never done drugs, and alcohol has little effect on me. Obviously a great amount of it does, but it runs through my system quickly, so I don't bother drinking to get drunk, as it takes too much.
JoS, Hmmm. We had a similar problem with the AAHC, but they were posting links to underage pictures, so...provided you had some form of a warning regarding it's content, I would say it's alrite, JoS. But then, again, I'm usually a bit more liberal in my interpretation of the rules than some of the others.
I'm glad to hear that despite you having problems, Wraith, you keep your head about you to a greater extent than most. The fact that you can admit to having some difficulties and still maintain some coherence in your life is a good sign. Have you ever looked into some form of therapy? I realize the BBS is hardly the place to discuss it, but you should give it some consideration. I scorned it for years but it actually turned out to be the key.
