Changing the Audio Rating system!

Hi Everyone!
I think this problem involves a lot of people. What is this? There are some... dunno how to call them who vote 0 or 1 to any audio submissions. Why? They want to see their submission in the top 10, they have a bad day or they are simply stupid.
I have a LOT negative experience with this as well and I got an idea how to change the system. Maybe I'm sending this to the wrong place but I want to know what are you thinking about this.

The main problem is that everyone (who has an account) can wote on a 0 to 5 scale, without writing a review. So just one click and the scores are falling to hell. My idea is: The rankig should be made only trough the overall points of the reviews. And there could be maybe a minimal character requirement that should be written in the reviews. So I think in this way most of these cases could be solved. Of course there would be also some stupid people who will write nonsense and give unfair points, but I think most of them are too retarded and to lazy to write a normal word down.

So. What do you think about this idea. Could it work? Write your opinion about it.

Post your suggestion there and don't worry, it will "all" change with the overall NG upadates that will take place in Okt. or Nov. (I heard that deadline is November so huzzah!) :)

Zero voting is not a bad thing. If it didn't exist, then we'd all be stuck at a permanent 4.00 +, and really, that just wouldn't work out.

Yeah, but how do you record audio? And how can i make my own songs that sound really cool, and people will think I'm cool? I want about 2000 + loops that I can tweak to perfection and ways of distributing it through global markets. Also, the loops should be cool. Not necessarily cooler than the red dress though.

so... usualy zero voters are teenagers between 12 and 16 and they think this is fun(to hurt people feelings...)i think you wil have a lot of bad reviews if you will change voting sistem that way. eniway ,i will check your music and if i like it i will 5 all to get even with zero voters.

Nop I don't think that. You dont have to be a teenager to behave like that. I don't want to sound big-headed or like that but this is question of intelligence. I can imagine that some people are zeroed down just becose someone wants to get into the top ten. Then he will be angry because of this and zeroes down someone elses music... and the circle goes on. So I cant belive that zero voting - if it is wrongfully given without any normally written review - is a good thing. And there are always some good music composers who has the talent but cant reach the top ten, nor a big download number beacuse the wrongfull given points. The current rating system gives an opportuniti for revenge - 0 down the scores just for fun or I don't know. In this way could all submissons judged in a - maybe - equal way. I think...

yep...that will show them who's boss....

unfortunately, the cruel mathematics of it all is that for every zero vote somebody sticks you with, it takes 4 people to vote 5 just to bring the average to a 4...it's a bit naive to think that slapping on a few 5's will reverse the damage.

I like your bracketing of the age group you think are responsible for zero voting. 12 to 16? how do you arrive at such a precise range? You dont think 10 years old zero vote? :P I guess when they hit 17 they see the error of their ways, right?

The score system represents the real world. If you piss people off, you get 0'd. If people just dont like you, you get 0'd.

I really do fail to see how this system could be improved upon tbh.

I mean, you've already got to log in to vote, the mods can say who 0 votes who, someone got shot down by a mod for this aaages ago. They were cryin about people who 0 voted artists with better scores and they got exposed as being hypocrites.

Moral of the story, trust no one, and dont worry too much about score, either you do well or you dont, but the more you cry, the more of a target you make yourself.

1 person was punished for chronic zero voting? Out of a AP population of 1000's? Plus you say it happened ages ago. The problem is occuring today.

Lets face it, the mods don't care about zero voting. The AP isn't high profile enough for them to bother. Shame about that.

0 voting isnt ACTUALLY a problem though.

If you remove the possibility of 0 voting, then the scores would mean even less than they do already.

Also, yes, this mod only shamed one person, but i think the message got across. We're all a bunch of selfish, self serving cunts, n to pretend otherwise is to basically, lie even more.

Its not like any of us are here just to big up our favourite artists...

I'd be very careful what you guys write in this forum - I find it hard to believe that NOONE here has rated zero on someones stuff - we all have at one time another for one reason or another - whether justified or otherwise.

As for lowest score over longest period of time - i have a few that were under 0.70 from like 2003 - I think I win in that department :P

and I've also seen what happens if NOONE votes zero - chart constipation - utter crap stays at the top of the charts forever - think of them as bodies in a river - if they all floated up at the top forever you wouldnt be able to swim - some have to sink to the bottom so more bodies can float around hahaha..

Yeah, so i think the reason nothings been done to stop 0 voting, is that nothing can ACTUALLY be done.

Even if you could say, only restrict the 0's to artists that have made a piece within that genre, to try prevent genre zealots, then clearly noobies with no skills would 0 the "better" artists in the genre.

rating according to how many times you have voted could help a bit tho - but it would mostly mean that people like us that have been here forever would become like the mafia totally obliterating any new up and coming artists.. hrmm.. lets do it.. hahahahaah..
