Prologue:
As we all know, the Newgrounds Flash Forum is a huge place that one can easily stumble into and break a neck. Yes, it's a jungle out there, what with n00bs falling over themselves to desperately gain some attention, newbies shyly stepping forward to bring the latest offerings (which may or may not turn into great masterpieces), regulars joking around (and sometimes helping the others) and the odd General mod who sticks his nose in - and we all taste a bit of the ban stick.
And yes, all these constitute of a pit of great ideas, flaming, banning, AOL language, ideas, joking etc. And we love the Flash Forum, really we do, but there's just too many topics, too many countless jokes, too many n00bs and someone just has to cry STOP!! Enough is enough. We have such great ideas, why not fuse them together into one massive thread where we can share our ideas, and hopefully n00bs and newbies alike will see them and blah blah blah.
Yet here we are. In spite of brilliant threads that have been created by the most helpful of forum regulars, we still have problems. Not because we don't try, but because others don't. Countless times I've seen new people showing up without reading the forum rules - and how do you expect these people to master Flash if they can't master the BBS?
The Site:
Enter Links For Your Flash. My goal is to compile the great topics and resource posts, flash movies and everything that consitutes of making Flash, into one giant website where all the links are categorised, useful info is hosted there etc. I've started with the original Sprite Resources thread, and I'm just waiting for a free host to get me setup with an FTP so I can show you all.
But let me stress, I will not (and cannot) be able to do this on my own. If you are willing to put in a page or two - perhaps even if it's converting your own old posts into HTML, then any help will be greatly appreciated...
If you have some free bandwidth on a TLD that you'd be willing to spare (and can hook me up with an FTP account) then that would be also very much appreciated. I do want this project to get big (and eventually a dot com) but I need money as I'm currently looking for work... Once I can get in some money to pay for proper hosting I certainly will.
To summarise then:
i. I'm looking for anyone on the board, who likes helping others with the basics of Flash, to help create HTML documents so that the whole forum can benefit.
ii. I'm also looking for a place to host ad free if there's someone who's prepared to host this project. If not it'll be run on a free server (with ads).
The site itself will be static, obviously, to allow quick updating via HTML. I've kept it very minimal for now, but if it's a well recieved idea I might go for a layout with images... hehe :-)
