Shameless Family Guy pitch. 2006-09-10 18:32:49 Reply

Hey,
I written a Family Guy episode and wouldn't mind seeing it animated. This is probably like a mortal sin in animation but I'll try anyway. Click here for the script.
Now for anyone who's read that and is interested I have a few facts. I can't animate period so I can't help with that. I am however a fairly capable voice actor (demo page here ) who can also get a full cast together in a week or 2. This basically means I can provide most of the soundtrack, except for SFX which are probably best left to the animator.
Well cheers for reading and I totally understand if no one wants to touch this project.
Courtney.

p.s. If I posted this in the place, erm.. my bad. Also please don't turn this topic into a flame war about Family Guy or me for posting because there is really no point.

lol, they are desperate when it come to making stuff. I did consider sending it to FOX but they'd probably send a generic thank you e-mail/letter back which means nobody actually read it.

Yeah, and the great thing about it being a Family Guy script is that it doesn't even have to be that good!

Not to say that yours isn't... I haven't read it yet.

That was weird, funny, but the ending seemed kinda out of place.

Yeah the ending came out of writer's block. The rest of the episode was supposed to focus on Meg being a feral child (someone who acts like an animal after living with animals and having no contact with people). But I got bored with the idea and came up with that ending.

To MarioBilly, if you're serious about helping out (thanks for the interest BTW) pm me and we can get the ball rolling.

The same also goes for anyone else who wants to try this.

that's actually pretty good. Though a lot of it would never appear on family guy (flash cartoon) Meg hasn't been used as an actual character in years and I think it'll stay that way. A lot of the jokes are re hashed especially the kinky stuff. Compare Steve Irwin scene to the Mr. Roger's scene. (Though I have no doubt they'll do something about steve.)

I've added to the script, see here to read it. Thanks for the positive reviews (all 3 lol), as for the slight rehash stuff it is a fan episode aimed at NG users hence the stick flash part.

It wasn't bad, in fact I could probably see it as a Family guy cartoon with a few adjustments since it followed the general formula. I liked the snake-be-gone part.

The first half seemed a lot more cleaned up than the extended bit. I got a little bored reading that.

You should include a day of the dead(?) refrence, where the zombie begines to learn and eventually even can shoot. :)

Good job on that btw. Although I think i'd have rather seen it as a script for an original cartoon sitcom. I don't like fan made episodes, there's always something wrong with them that just totally ruins it, sometimes that the drawing style is off, but more often than not the voice acting.

I took this on board and reworked the script with an original family you can read it

I say we call it 'Italian-American dad'.

:)

Think up some cool characters. Rather than just having Stewie but a slight change, think up something original. Stewie is a clever character because he is ironic. A baby who is dead clever, and yet a dad who is a moron.

I agree but disagree. Johnny is the Johnson's equivalent of Stewie but he is more than a slight change. Most of Johnny's differences come from his voice. That doesn't necessarily show in the script. If you want ot hear it I'll post it if you suggest a line you want to hear Johnny say. Also Johnny is 3, Stewie is 1 (he's only had one birthday from what I remember). Though I admit that purely a visual difference.

I think that if you go that route, you'll have even more people willing to hate your animation as not many will be aware of the fact that your flash is a homage to Family Guy. Instead, they'll simply think that your ripping off them--the style of humor alone is a dead give away. I really don't see any harm in keeping the characters as they are. I had no problem with the script, and on one is expecting a hundred thousand dollar project from a couple of fans.

:/ But that is just my kickass opinion.

Skaijo, I understand what your saying. But if this ever gets submitted or even made, the on-screen and spoken introduction states: "Warning! The following cartoon is basically Family Guy but with different characters. If you don't like it... then the cast and crew of this production couldn't give a flying <bleeped fuck>."
Anyone who gives a blasting 0-1/10 review saying "I hate you, you ripped off Stewie, you should burn in hell for insulting FG" etc will sound like a retard after that introduction speech.

But that's the whole point.

Anyone who'll give a zero to an episode with as much thought as the one you provided above would very well be retarded. I believe those blams are inevitable either way. Still, I believe my point was that, fewer people will be able to identify with the characters that you make up--if their obvious counterparts are characters from family guy. It wouldn't make since to start a Mario flash with an itailan character named Miguel who wears red overalls and a blue T-shirt. It just doesn't feel right to me. But once again, that is just my kickass opinion.

Oh well I'll make that decision if I ever get an animator. Though I am casting voice actors for The Johnsons. If the Family Guy one gets animated (by some miracle) instead of The Johnsons(getting the Johnsons done would be an even greater miracle), I'll just make the Johnsons into an audioplay podcast style thing. The main reason I adapted the script in to the Johnsons was to free up the art style and voices to be different and in many ways easier. But as long as this script gets made into something I'll be over the moon.
Also funnily enough Mario originally had red overalls and a blue shirt, he didn't look like he does now until Super Mario Bros 2. Though he was never called Miguel lol.

Yeah, and the great thing about it being a Family Guy script is that it doesn't even have to be that good!

Not to say that yours isn't... I haven't read it yet.

i think family guy is pretty funny, but people are pulling that sellout shit on it, as for the script/voice acting, those would be great as a flash, sadly im afraid you wont find anyone who would make a just animation.
