well I made a website, but completely unedited (almost), and I'm planning on making a completely flash-based forum, with a few cool features ;), however, I don't know actionscript, only movies.

That's where I need help. if anyone is good with flash (and does not make alot of bugs in the actionscript), please help me.

Also, if it's succesful, I'll switch from freewebs to a "regular" site (without all the words in front), so thanks alot.

I'm not asking for "how to", I'm actually asking for someone to help me, so it fits in this section of the BBS.

inspired by the NG BBS :D but this one will be alot different XD

There is an exact copy of this topic at "general" section, but someone recommended that I post here. Well, here you go!

The complexity of a Flash-based forum is unimaginable to me, if you are serious about this you need to offer some money, and a lot of it because I don't even know of anybody capable of that on NG. Nothing like a real forum, anyway.

these flash MMORPG's I talk about are free...
so is stick arena...
and I've seen alot of flash chat rooms, some of them with logs to remember everything, kinda like a forum.. but a bit easier...

But thanks for stating how hard it is.

It can't be that hard if XML does what I think it does. I made a makeshift forum in PHP in about 4 hours, and the only difference is that you would have to have Flash interpret the XML code and make it render up posts, ect.

I'm pretty sure you can access a mysql database through flash somehow. I guess that would be the easiest way to make a forum. Can't say I've done it myself, nor can I remember where I saw the tutorial on it.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a game is worth a play. New game! In AS 3.0. :D

You obviously know more about this than me, I am quite learned in actionscript but when it comes to XML and PHP I'm rubbish.

No, because you can create movieclip with two frames, on first one write the code for forum and on second one put "gotoandplay(1);". So it's reloading nonstop, which is better then php forums... But php forums are better becase of some other things...

the site does not have forum options that I want >.> this is complex.

No-oneSpecial:
I actually said that cause I thought the different systems (no it's not only point ones...) would be impossible with freewebs, and I'm too newbie to make it with all that coding and stuff... so I thought that it might be a bit harder to make the forum, but it will be alot easier for the systems.
