how to work a .bin file

i tryed to open a file and it said it need to use a program from list or web page, we page said it was .bin binary i suppose,
it was a file from a disk and it's not supposed to run on xp(2000 works cos my mate has it). what should i do? i want to run it as it's a small game he made.

BIN is just data. He needs to make an EXE in order for the game to actually run. I don't know how, though.

A bin for games typically is a disk image. Now depending on the platform it runs on, you'd either have to burn or emulate it.

Kindly state the platform the game is for.

yes it did come with a cue file, it's for pc but it does not run on xp, i can sort that out though,

if i have to burn it onto cd hows that cos i ahve burned music but nnot fiels, is it just drag and drop.

Bin/Cue is an image format, much like an ISO. You need to mount it or watch it (Depending on if its an image from a DVD) by using a compatible program. PowerISO will mount data disc images, while the VCL player is a free way to watch DVD image rips. Another alternative is to burn the image to a CD/DVD to mimic the original item. That option costs a disc, however.

(Notice, I in no way have encouraged warez or illegal file sharing/usage in any way. These procedures reference credible programs and can easily be applied to legitimate situations with disc images. Thank you)

Save yourself the cd, and download a copy of Daemon Tools (google it).

Then just mount the .cue file in Daemon Tools, and you're set ;D

did i thrase it wrong, i had to download a program to download it. i can't be arsed with that. my mate said he could change it too .rar if i wanted,

jus before i say yes to him, what are .rar files and are they easy to run.
