Im making my first flash that includes sound. Im using the "Pirates life for me!" song. My sister told me that it was copyrighted by disney in pirates of the caribean. I dont want to scrap the whole thing because of this. As long as I dont claim the song as my own and give credit to disney ill be ok right?

technically you are not alowed but if your not going to make money your going to give credit then it should be ok. Disney lawyers won't be trying to find you if thats what your thinking.

That could be because the picture was under copyright protection, which would cause problems if disney found out (though why the fbi would get involved is beyond me). As long as you state clearly where the music is from, and don't even hint at calling it your own, you should be alright.

The FBI would get involved because thats their job basically. You see all those FBI warnings before a movie starts well it's the same thing. In a movie the people who created it have their copyrights on it. Even with photographs, if you decided to take a picture of your friend and make money off of it you must have a written concent from your friend before you can publish/use the photo for money. Since copyrights are the rights given to people so that other people wont steal your idea before and after the making of whatever, it makes them as powerful as laws. It is about money but if your doing it for a fun flash animation, I see no problems as long as you give credit to where credit is due I believe. Many other people in the past have used copywrited music and haven't had any problems for flash animations here since money isn't being made. I sugguest in your credits part that you write the song title & album/website. More might be needed but if all else fails and your still worried, either check out and see what other people have done by viewing their flash or emailing a disney representative.

Nah you see you can't really rip the music from a flash so you're not exactly distributing it.
Make sure to credit the full name of the artist(s), in this case first and last name of the composer (which slipped my mind for a sec), so the automatic link to Amazon works properly.

Well, unless Disney is getting desperate and is going to the dumps they won't bother with you.
6 people just became assholes.
