Recently, my mom bought a G4 Powerbook. (Macintosh.) And then she bought a mac mini, when the size was unescessary. Where she could have bought a pc, which costs way less, and then used the cd she got from her laptop to install Macintosh on it. Then, she'd have spent less money and had the friendliness of both Windows and Macintosh running on her desktop computer. Is there a reason not to do that? I'm trying to do it for a $430.00 Dell. ;)
Edit: (Sorry, find unescessary in my computer's dictionary. :P)

As we all well know, parents are insane.
And yeah, that's what I'm saying about your mom: she's insane. Depending on the condition and prices of a G4 Powerbook and that Mac Mini, it sure as hell questions me as to why you'd really buy one of each just 'cause of size. I'd have gone for the PB myself in the first place.
omg.

Jeremy :(
It relates to computers and operating systems. It's borderline. I think it's fine right here.
We don't get that many threads in here, and this one can easily be considered fine for here.

I cant really post it general because I'll get about twelve people saying the most computer people reside here. Here, in the programming forum I don't suffer as much since there's less people. :D

Plus, we do know more about computers :)
And you'll get all those "OMG MACS SUCK" people.
Now, to answer your question...the MacBooks and Mac Minis are well worth the price. That's my personal opinion.

I resent that, 12 year old offender! :P
Anyways, I was trying to find a way to get that pentium chip into the deal. Recently I've been noticing the fact that most new programming things I learn revolve around the Windows. I have the setup disk but No pentium chip. That's why rather than buyin one of the new, expensive pentium macs, (which I doubt I'll be able to buy! :-( )I'm getting a 600 dollar pc and pimping it. It's fairly good compared to my laptop, in fact better in every way! (I have an ibook G4, my mom's got the powerbook.) Do you know if there are any cheaps macs with pentium preinstalled? Then I'd probably get the mac version. |-:OD

Macbooks rock
biased opinion.
But seriously, if she needed two fixtures; I don't see why not. Both (assuming she got an Intel Mac Mini) are good machines and will suit her well.

Nothing, they rock. I wish I could get one but as a 13 year old It's gonna take me 3 months just to get $450.00. So I'm doing my best to get a similar computer.

Less than $6.00 per hour? I work for the neighbors. Plus, you probably make less money since there are so many free scripts out there.

I don't do it full time. Only for about an hour a day.
But I seriously doubt a 13 year-old works full time...

Correct, the most I've done is 3 hours in one day. It's taking me until my 3 months for all this cash. Though I could work full time if I had a more interesting job than staining decks. I'm thinking of fixing up and selling computers for that little bit of extra cash.

No, my rich, senior neighbors. My family is held afloat by my grandma, who gets her and my deceased gandpa's retirement cash. Anyways, this is the most money I've had in my life... (60 bucks, I like these neighbors. :D )

How does this relate to programming?
Yeah, this should be in the general area.
