I dunno, couldn't think of a better name for the thread XD

Anywho, this is, in short, the thread where audio artists post links (with a clean, accurate description) and you, the flash artists, can use them willingly in your movies. You guys get the music you want, and we get submissions. Win win, baby.

The set down of the rules.

FLASH ARTISTS

Please, try to only browse this thread. If you would like to make a request for a certain type of music, please PM a certain audio artist. This thread is a showcase of music for you guys to use, not a request thread.

AUDIO ARTISTS

Before you post a link to your newest song, ask yourself these questions.
-Do I know what situation flash artists can use this song in?
-Can I get a .wav version of the song to the flash artist, if nessecary?
-Is it well mastered? (A serious MUST for flash)

And remember audio artists, don't be a whore. Only advertise for songs that you think work perfectly for flash.

So, with that being said, I think we can get this off to a nice start :)

I need a loop, under 750 megs, must be entertaining and not repetitive to the point where the user wants to chuck out his speakers. Must also drive the user forward to play the game, a sort of curiousity element. Its hard to describe music.

I want the dinamics to fluctuate, but the song to always be there and the music to never be too oppresive.

Avoiding base might be a good idea, perhaps use a lighter instrument to drive people forward. I don't want base to dominate it.

The overall theme should be magical/midevil as it is for a turn based style game. This loop will be the MAIN music for my game so its very important. The visuals of the game will be mostly stony as it takes place in a labrynth.

Do what you will with it, I'd be very appreciative.

That is not the point. Many flash artists have said that going through the massive database of music is tiresome. This is to trim away all the crap that they might now want.

So let me be the first to advertise a battle energetic piece, possible for flashes. If anybody wants me to turn it into a loopable version, i'd be willing.

Having people post their songs up one by one like this isn't going to be very useful for anybody. Maybe a list that is updated every once in a while like the MAC6 list. Otherwise this is going to turn into another advertisement thread and we all know how that turned out.

Searching through the Audio Portal can be a pain, so I tried to find a way to make things easier. I made a Flash jukebox with samples of some of my themes, which are mostly short and great for games. My themes have been used in over 35 games so far.

Download the jukebox here!

It's about 2.5 MB, and it has samples of 29 of my themes. I have over 100 more in the Audio Portal, so be sure to check them out too. I'm hoping the jukebox idea will catch on and maybe people will find music more easily on NG.

for all musicians posting, please be sure to make clear whether or not your music is looping. the difference between music for a movie and music for a game is that games run for an indefinate amount of time, so the music needs to loop seemlessly.

i dont really think thats a fair proposition. i think that the flash artists should be able to request what they are looking for, for the purpose of getting pointed in the right direction, or motivating an aspiring musician to create something that will fit in an up-and-coming new flash...

me personally, im looking for a song to fit a medieval real-time strategy game. it should be fairly relaxed and mostly just fitting the medieval/renaissance theme. looping is a MUST for games.

I second authorblue's objection. this thread should be a place for flash authors to request specific pieces as well. This place is going to turn into a mess with "LIZTEN TO MY TRAKS!" and it will be even harder to find good songs on there then just browsing the audio portal.

I reckon a whole new forum section should be created as a "Request Corner" or something like that, so that flash authors may request pieces, and Audio artists can create advertisement threads for their music. Don't tell me that we can do that already in the Audio Forum, because we can't.

But seeing as we can't do that, or maybe just not yet, in order to keep things organized perhaps we can have two threads. One "Audio For your Flashes", and another "Audio Requests for your Flashes".

In this sense we are removing two groups from posting in one thread, which WILL get bloated, and then die.

Why didn't the naysayers post thier objection in Zenon'sproposal thread? it was here all of yesterday...

And why aren't the audio submitters actually telling us about thier works? The only one that seems to have put any thought into his ad was MaestroRage (which was posted exactly the way I was hoping it would be for this thread).

And while I'd prefer Authorblues' request-a-song-style thread over this one (I made that clear in the other thread), this seems to be the one the Audiophiles will work under best. If we can set up our own version of this in the audio forum for the method me and blues would prefer then that may stop morons ruining this thread.

Wait, if flash artists are only browsing for author's they like and would then PM them to make them a soundtrack then this really doesn't belong in the flash forum. It's pretty much an audio showcase, which has minimal relevance to flash. If I ever need a custom soundtrack made for a game I venture into the Audio Forum, as do most flash artists.
Sorry, but unless this is a 'request audio for your flash' thread, I think it should be in the audio forum.

Okay. So lets make this topic work the way half of us want it to work...

Requesting Audio: Classic Rock
I'm trying to set up my Convoy series, which I'm setting as a Post-Apocalyptic series focussed on vehicle chases through deserts, gunfights at high noon and gritty bar brawls. Somewhere between Mad Max 2, Firefly, Trigun, Fallout and Gorkamorka [yeah... really showing my geek roots here. Wikipedia those topics for better explanations than I feel I can give].

What I need though is some music to keep the theme. I'm leaning more towards classic rock and metal, and I'd like to keep the entire thing as legitimate and supportive of the Audio Portal as possible. Stuff in the styles of "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf, "Crossroads" by Cream, "Peace Sells" by Megadeth and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" by Judas Priest for various parts of the series. I'd also prefer instrumental tracks.

If anyone knows any artists who have already existing tracks in the Audio Portal that fit this bill, let me know either through PM or MSN/AIM (details in profile). Same if anyone knows any musicians I can contact about doing tracks specifically for the series

Hmm, what you want may be quite difficult to produce, especially to the quality you want it. Of course i'll assist by searching for some potential candidates, but songs with qualities such as Megadeath are probably not going to be found in the classical rock genre, and more heavy metal.

It also helps the artist if they actually saw some of the flash and the style you present. I know it's quite a demanding request, but I suppose it would help the artists here, to see screenshots of the flash to determine what would better suit it.

At the moment I'm still trying to plan out the scripts. I'm in this for the long haul and I know I want to make a series out of it - so the more I have planned, the faster I'll be able to draw it all. So not a lot in the form of concept work done yet

Having taken a few minutes to search through the Classic Rock section, I've found a lot of it simply isn't what I'd call classic rock. I think I can sum up my requirements as "anything you can picture yourself driving a Harley Davidson to".

And my expectations aren't too high - production quality doesn't have to be perfect, and I'm looking for some acoustic stuff for one of the characters to strum along to during the quiet parts of the piece. I'd just prefer to use the AP over my copyrighted music collection, and saw this as an opportunity to get some of the more complicated leg work done for me
