Delete Turd of the week?

Ok guys, this has probably been an issue, I don't know how long, but I know there must be a stop to it.

You see, some newcomers to the flash portal seem to actually want to win turd of the week. This isn't only sad, but it crowds up the portal with "Vote 5" or "I'm trying to win turd of the week. Vote 5. Lol!!!11!11!" crap. I'm not really worried about getting more blam points from crappy flash animations, but I want people who upload stuff just so they can aim for Turd of the Week to stop. So here's my plan...

...Why don't we get rid of TOTW? It serves no good point at all. It's just there to award the worst animations that didn't get blammed. If we got rid of TOTW, then it wouldn't give these bad grammer newcomers a point to make bad Flash animations.

So hows that plan sound?

Well turd of the week was probably first set up to showcase movies that were so bad they were funny.

A lot of people now go for the award by trying to mass vote down their own and submit flash movies that are intentionally bad and make for the sake of getting totw.

And it's always funny to see these really crappy movies piss off people. Plus don't forget the free whistle points.

You know, a simple "Nah, that wouldn't work because..." would of worked better. And just because I haven't made any flash animations doesn't say anything (I'm almost done one).

Anyways, some of you guys say that the TOTW is a good thing. Now I agree, but I think now that it should just be a featured animation rather than an award. Maybe that will lower the newcomers wanting the TOTW award.

Well first of all, TOTW is a goldmine of abusive reviews. Second, what would happen to the Star Syndicate and other similar groups? Their flash would have to be put on the front page to get noticed, because all the fucking idiots who vote low on it would bury it into the big "black hole of newgrounds" once it gets protected.

- file swapping
- Making minimum quality flashes
- purposely downvoting
- encouragement for submitting crap

Hey you can't win TOTW with a fileswap I seen the BB and other groups try to do this in the past but it never worked also people also fileswap for other reasons as well

That is a matter of what the person calls good or bad so don't even try to use that as an excuse

It is simple. there is quility flash with humor and crappy flash with humor. by rewarding the bad quality flash it give that person hope to do better as well as give people a something to laugh at. as for the reviewing people review it because they see it while the masses may give a lot of shitty reviews you can't blame the author for the reviews he/she gets that is based on the reviewer. there is also one other reason why there TOTW

You use the word masses, majority. When I laugh at a Flash I give it a decent raiting even if it's not great.

If it has a 0.95, it shouldn't be funny or good, which usually is the truth. Usually turds of the week are just portal spam. And that's why they have scores of under 1.

TOTW used to be awesome. i used to look foward to it every week. now a days, its all premeditated movies that has a title of "CLICK HERE FOR MIDGET FISTING XXX" so people come and vote 0 on their movie :/ it's not the same. TOTW used to be awesome, one of the best weekly awards.

but its a part of newgrounds history. and it should stay for good :)

not everyone finds the same thing funny. also don't forget the voting power and the amount of votes a movie gets comes into play as well. the more votes a movie has the less effect the vote has after judgement. Also there are some people that vote low because even though they laughed at it they are giving it what they think it deserves I have rea a lot of reviews from people saying something like " this made me laugh but I am still voting 0/1" or something to that nature trust me I read a lot of reviews

and different ways to vote no one is the same. There is another reason why most TOTW's have a score below 1.00 as well. a lot of noobs who don't know that you can not blam a movie after judgement vote 0 to try to get the movie deleted it is very common with TOTW's
