Hey everyone, I'd like to point your attention towards a number of Guitar Hero II videos that have been posted on 1UP.com. Misrilou and Beast and the Harlot on expert and Monkey Wrench on co-op mode. Just in case you didn't want this game enough already.

UGH I'm SO close to five-starring CFH on Expert. I have every one but that and Frankenstein and Texas Flood.

I'm getting there as well, I'm about nine songs away from having all five-stars on expert. I was trying to get them all done before Guitar Hero II comes out, but it looks pretty doubtful.

Can I join? I have a 360 and I'm going to get the 360 version when it comes out in spring. I love what I have played at Best Buy Demo station but I completely suck at the game.

im definetly buying this game now. I loved the first one but this one has some of my favorite songs.

Yeah I saw that too. When I did it knocked the game to the top of my "to buy" list. Good thing Christmas is just around the corner.

I was able to play a demo Guitar Hero 2 today. The guy who works at Game Crazy was amazing and did Mad House on hard. Three frets at once is going to be hard.

not possible. i dreamed about it months ago before screenshots or anything were avaliable. the game was crazy, it was impossible to make though. i wish it was as amazing as in my dreams ;)

I could've gotten the game yesterday if I wasn't sick. I wonder if I could get it today.

I'm still stuck on Medium mode in the first game seeing has how I only got the first game a few days ago.

But as I hear from fans, the second game is a lot harder... and Freebird is in the second game so that makes things tough.

Well actually, they improved the programming so hammer-ons and pull-offs are MUCH easier. Also, they raised the level of acceptance for notes (how close you have to hit the note for it to register).

From the demo, it's really noticeable. I can do really long complecated runs, such as the ones from YYZ on expert. Maybe people are saying its harder because the songs are harder.

But I don't know, I guess we'll both find out when we get the game :)

Also, some of you older ones out there should be good sports and mail me money/ the game.

Man is it great. This Practice mode is helpful for a Guitar Hero newbie like me (I have the first game, but only recently).

The first song I bought in Career Mode was of course... TROGDOR!!!

But seriously... get this game now!

I'm actually getting pissed... I have no money :(

All the stores here are sold out of it. My parents tell me not to waste my money on it, because I'll just get it for Christmas.

This fucking sucks! I don't want to wait until Christmas...

The sequel is pretty damn good so far, which I didn't really need to tell you. they would have had to do something awful to really fuck up such a great formula.

On the difficulty side I am noticing a lot more challenge. I jumped right into expert mode and unlike the first GH there's really no curve in difficulty where you get hit with easier techniques in the first tiers that prepare you for the final ones. While the first few songs are easier overall you don't get any sympathy when you happen to hit a hard part (for example the little bit of wankage at the end of Sharp dressed man did not reflect all the notes that were actually being played in the recording, GHII has not qualms about throwing all of that at you). I can't speak for how well the challenge curves in the other difficulties so hopefully batdan can enlighten us.

As for the playlist, I'm definetly enjoying it. I've read a few reviews that have complained about the lack of immensely recognizable songs that were in the first, and while they did go deeper into some band's librarys I've yet to have a problem with it. In fact, I actually enjoy career mode's new four regular songs and then a massive anthem for the encore. I'll let time form my fina; opinion on it though.

Nah, instead of having five songs available when you start each level of the career mode there are only four. Once you've completed those you unlock the fifth "encore" song which is generally a popular song like Freebird or Sweet Child of Mine that everyone has fantasized about playing at one point in time which is what I meant by anthem.

So I've finally decided to advance to hard mode. Problem is, I don't know how to hit all those tricky orange notes.

Any suggestions... I know, I know there's practice but I've been doing a lot of that.

That's really all you can do. It's like a real guitar, you keep playing and eventually your fingers start moving across the fret buttons more gracefully, you will stop having to think so hard about where you're placing your hand, and you start to feel the rythm of the songs better. The hard mode (in GHone at least) was pretty nice about not being to heavy on the orange button on the first couple tiers of songs so you could always go back to those for some practice if it got too hard later on.

hey, I just bought GH2 yesterday (first time playing any GH game) and I think its like the best music game I've ever played. I've pretty much got all the songs down on easy, and Im getting used to medium, I have a really hard time hitting the blue fret with my little finger though, but Im getting better. I beat carreer mode on easy, and Im on the second section on medium, so far I've bought 3 songs, the freezepop one, the buckethead one, and Trogdor. Anyway I was wondering If I could join.
hopefully by the end of the month I'll be on hard mode.

finally my friend brought it over. god dammit, damn you thunderhorse. that song is so amazing, i keep playing it over and over again. i cant seem to get anything higher than 80ish on hard on that song. the practice mode is bad ass though! you can slow down songs and whatnot, so i can try to shred like dethklok.

this game is quite impressive. there's a lot more eye appeal, for spectators. to me it's all just noise as i try to play :P

oh yeah, and trogdor rocks pretty hard too, but it's not the same as thunderhorse. I WILL PERFECT IT BY THE END OF THE DAY >:U

I was playing Trogdor on medium, and it came to this one part that was really easy, but it sounded like it should be really hard, it was kinda wierd.
I really like Jordan by Buckethead, and that one go crazy on you song.
I've been playing all day though, and my eyes are hurting soooo bad, time to rest...

i can't stop playing thunderhorse, and i'm constantly singing the song to myself all day. ah, how i've missed you guitar hero :3

Yes Thunderhorse is easily one of my favorite GHII songs and yes, I have beaten it. Not with a terrific score, but at least I did beat it. In other news I've unlocked Freebird and I can honestly say...FUCK. I thought beating Hanger 18 was a fucking challenge, but goddamn.

For those unfamiliar with the tune just imagine a really slow song that goes on for a while and makes you wonder why it's in expert, then you hit a solo that's tough but managable with the star power you've amassed. You almost want to chuckle at the fact that it's the final song, but then you get hit with the massive unending wall of descending sixteenth notes and in under a minute you're left feeling cold and violated.

I beat carreer mode on medium last night, I got the encore at stonehenge (freebird). I failed horribly the first time, but then the second time through I barely finished. Afterwards I attempted hard mode...
thats gonna take me a while to get okay at. time to go practice.
