most of them are cheap, throwaway CPUs as stated in the article?

My PC's hardware (peripherals included) cost me $2800, and I got the video card for free.

My PC's OS and software (all inclusive) cost me $0.

I love Linux.

People are scared of mac computers because they are scared of change, even if it might make things easier.

ie. "Oh I'm so scared there is no right click". Well newsflash Macs do have right click and even so things are easier with only 1 mouse button if you just give it a chance.

Correction, $2200 (Added the monitor twice... stupid me)

Anyway
$250 --> AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8GHz (equivalent of a 2.8GHz Intel P4) 64 bit
$250 --> MSI K8T Neo2-FIR MS-6702e (4GB RAM capacity, Onboard AC97 audio, Dual SATA RAID support)
$50 --> OKIA 600Watt power supply
$120 --> Memorex 16x DL DVD+/- burner
$20 --> Floppy drive
$90 --> 512MB DDR RAM
$160 --> got rid of original ram and put in 2x 512MB OCZ DDR400 RAM
$0 --> Radeon 9600SE free from a friend
$75 --> Xblade case
$160 --> Logitech Z-2300 2.1 THX speakers
$130 --> Epson Stylus Photo R200 Printer (prints on CDs)
$600 --> LG L1780Q 17" LCD monitor (8m response time, 1280x1024)
$150 --> 200GB Western Digital SATA hard drive
$90 --> 80GB Seagate SATA hard drive

Total: $2165
If I've done the math right....

I was a 6 year windows user... I just switched to Gentoo Linux recently, even though it makes things harder (initially.. learning curve isn't that steep)

No right click makes things MUCH harder. My entire application tree is accessed through a simple right click on the desktop...

If you had a mac you wouldn't even have to right click.. all your programs are at the bottom of the screen in your dock anyway.

As anyone intelligent would know, those systems have nothing to do with each other.
