Dont you fucking love it when Flash crashes? I dont know what is up with this peice of shit at the moment, but it is fucked.

Today I have been making a level for a game im working on, spent about 4 hours on it, and flash crashes. Naturally I was pissed off, probably lost about 15 mins of work since my last save, but I booted up Flash again, opened the file, and the whole this is fucked. I dunno what went wrong, but half the objects are missing and some of the shapes are distorted.

SO obviously, I was fucking angry. I just spent another half hour or salvaging what I could from .swfs and stuff, and the it decides to crash again, and the file decides to fuck up AGAIN. So pretty much a whole day wasted for me

Its SO fucking frustrating when this happens. Its also really fucking depresing. Has it ever happened to anyone else before? Do you know what the fuck is up with my flash?

Wow. That really sucks. It has happened to me, but only once, and I copied the frames to a seperate scene and everything seemed to work again. Because of that I now try to save multiple copies of a file so that if one corrupted the rest would escape.

Check out this thread for information about autosaving/autosequencing files, its saved me a lot of time.

Yeah that used to happen, but because I had a truck load of Spyware and the like festering in my computer. I just basically adopeded a good policy of saving every 5 minutes wether I've done anything at all or not. Just get into the habit of CTRL-S every once in a while (but often)... however if the computer is chewing up the save files, yeah... that's bad.

I've also noticed you can't change the brush colors while working on a symbol and while something is selected... probably just a bug.

happened to me a million times, because I have the habit of not saving until i'm done with stuff, I don't really think about it in the middle of doing something. damn me -_-

Hmhmhm..well yea, Sometimes flash can crap out on me too, although it's been pretty good latley. I had to reinstall it one time for it to work again. The 2 worst expieriences I had were one time, I lost about 20 minutes of work, 1 minute in the flash, working on a trailer. And another time I lost another 40 minutes of work working on an alternate ending for a movie. I use flash mx, is it the same with others? After i reinstalled it, it works fine, and i never have problems retrieving old flash files. It only crashes when I may go to test a movie. The best adice I have is...

SAVE IT EVERY TIME B4 U TEST THE MOVIE.

If it always crashes on u, then ur on ur own.

Ok so I have no idea what is wrong now.

It crashes pretty much every few minuites.

Ive tried reinstalling, doesnt help.

Any ideas?

Reinstall Windows. There's no reason any program should crash that much.

Yesh, this happens to everybody and that's why I save things to a CD when possible, once that happened, I hit the computer and burnt myself :) after short amounts of blood .__.

Yeah but saving things to CD isnt relaly going to help... Its something to do with Flash fucking up on the saving part...

And Also it just crashes...

But yeah, it is good to back up.

Does anyone know WHY flash crashes? It is simply that it's a crummy program in terms of stability or is it a computer memory issue?

Where do yuor saved .fla files go? I save mine in my folder on the desktop and every ten minutes I save. It's crashed before but my work has been saved, I just have to click open then browse it.
