Because it sounds like crap mainly. Besides, you proved my point entirely. It's THAT much harder to make a truely heavy riff in standard tuning than it is in any dropped tuning, meaning that your riffs are ACTUALLY heavy and it isn't just the tuning picking up the slack.

I wouldn't say that. I also got song with heavy E tuning riffs. But why do you care anyways? Just because you think all guitarist should play in E tuning? It's a matter of taste.

No sir. I have a guitar tuned to C# standard right now. I don't use it for heavier stuffs as songs around that tuning abuse it's easyness to make it sound evil. QOTSA mainly.

This is true, however, I guarantee half of the entries wouldn't sound nearly as heavy as they do now if it was in E. The heaviest riffs of all time are in E. Cowboys From Hell for example is a prime example of a HEAVY riff. Zakk Wyldes stuff is heavy and it's only down half a step, which doesn't give it that deep sound.

lol I think making heavy songs tuned E isn't too hard. I'll make some hardcore song when I find time and become unlazy. But that won't be happening soon =P

I know, it's all good, you shouldn't take people here too seriously. Even non-guitarists can make heavy metal, it just doesn't sound as cool when it's all midi. But I try ;_;.

Personally I hate drop tunings.
Most of my stuff is played in D, but my riffage is usually based around the first fret and I only play the D note when I want to screw things up a little. Yeah. Fucking Yeah.
