What has this world been reduced to? Some years ago, the english language was a poetic one. Nowadays, it has been reduced to a series of grunts, slang, and words that just plain don't even exist. Music too, used to be a beauitiful thing, full of harmony, melody, heart and soul. Nowadays artists are paid millions of bucks for something with no real meaning, no beautiful music, no hard thought out lyrics, and in many cases, they didn't even write it themselves! Rap artists are among the highest paid, and for what? Many rap songs consist of these lyrics : bitch, ho, weed. And yet we let these people "earn" hordes of cash for a display of talent and vocabulary similar to that of a 2 year old who only knows two words. The whole concept of almost every song is about treating women like shit and getting high - Disgusting. Then we have society. Once again, some years ago humankind was all about morals, honour and respect for fellow human beings. Nowadays, People are yelling things out their vehicles at other people. My girlfriend and I are innocently trying to get home from a movie, when 5 or 6 30 year old men drive by and yell sexual comments at her. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought people grew out of the stage of yelling out of vehicles at around the age of 6. Guess I underestimated the developmental and learning capabilities of people these days. I mean honestly what the hell kind of sorry excuse for a grown man is that? Yelling sexual comments at a 15 year old girl, once again - Disgusting. And yet like a fool I think that there are pure hearted and good people in this world, they're the ones who hold high places, right? Wrong. We have the president of the United States of America solving his issues through the solution of violence. Again, I thought we learned problems were not to be resolved that way somewhere around the time we evolved from neanderthals to homo sapiens. But once again, I underestimated the ability of humankind to learn from our mistakes. So I have just one question, why? Why does all this go on? Why has the world turned into such a barren wasteland of disrespect or be disrespected? Anyone who feels they can answer my questions, please do. This world belongs to all of us, how could we let it become so grey and awful. There must still be something that can be done to make things green and good again. If these problems were eliminated, we wouldn't have the problem of murder, hate, and suicides. This topic is open to anyone who feels they have a relevant opinion, or perhaps even some answers and solutions, I'd love to hear them. Fire away..

it sounds like you needed to vent. it also sounds like you may have read the "Whig intrepetation of history" at one time.
Rap music is a music at its rawist level. Yes some rappers do talking about weed and bitches and hos (see: ODB). However the old rule of thumb is you right and sing about what you know. and due to the purposeful amount of money taken out of the slums and ghettos of America, this is all they might know.
Remember though, the more things change the more they stay the same. Elvis, The Beatles, The Doors, Eminem all have been the victim(s) of a few people that didnt like what they had to sing about or the way they danced or had problems with something they said.

You bring up many good points. This world is full of people who are just flat out immature. There's really not much we can do about it, except try to see to it that the intelligent people are the ones running the show.
I do take issue with one comment, however:

Nobody likes the idea of war or violence, but to be perfectly frank, when you say that we learned that problems shouldn't be resolved through violence when we evolved into Homo sapiens... tell that to Saddam Hussein.
People don't like the idea of war in general, and there are those who don't like this war in particular. But war is a fact of life--whether we like it or not, there will always be someone fighting someone else. We hope for peace, but if war should come, we should be prepared.

I think you're right, I believe I did need to vent a little. I'm even more annoyed by the irony that I myself am so overwhelmed with negative emotion over a world packed with just that - negative emotion. Just for the record, I haven't read the "Whig interpretation of history". I'm just a very opinionated 15 year old who's views typically stand out from most other peers around my age.
I do realize that the world is full of stupid and immature people, and that there is really nothing to be done about it. And I know I don't have the right to say they shouldn't live in our world, though i'd like to.
I also didn't mean to just single out George Bush. I am against the actions of both Bush and Saddam, but I don't have a say in how I think countries should be run, especially considering I don't live in either.
You also make a good point about being prepared for whatever it is that is upon us. I wholeheartedly agree, but I just wish we could solve the world's issues in a manner that didn't involve violence, bloodshed, and and slaughter of innocent people. But hey, I know enough to realize that I'm just thinking of a dream world.
Also, I didn't mean to imply that I don't think there are any good people in this world, that is not the case. I know there are, and I think part of the reason I posted in the first place was in hopes of hearing from other decent people who still have morals and respect for others. The thought that some people may see where I'm coming from, and perhaps even agree on several points is comforting, so I thank you for that.
When it comes right down to it, I guess I'm a fool for thinking such a problem free world could exist. The only way it would be possible, is to have a world without emotion. Needless to say, I wouldn't want that. As long as emotions exist, there will always be room for hate, dislike, jelousy and such. But I suppose I just have to focus on the other side of it all - love, compassion, etc. All in all it should balance out, but I don't believe it does and that I think is the issue I have here. So as long as we're human, these things will exist.

I wasn't planning on reading your original post.
Do be perfectly honest, the size of it sent me running and screaming into my oven for an hour.
But when I caught a few words, I realized it was something I agreed with, and I read it all. Beautiful rant. I can't agree more.
Nothing to argue, I just totally agree.

A fifteen year old asking what went wrong with the beautiful world that was?? Seems a little, odd.
That said, even if you were an 80 year old man, I'd still have to ask on what you are basing your comparisons to? It seems to me you are looking at the to high class folk of the past and the common folk of today, which is like comparing apples to Billy-Jean's. What you spoke of has existed for as long as humans have been around, only difference is now we talk about it more.
As for the drive-by sexual comments, it's the classic construction worker syndrome gone drive-by. If anything, look at it as a weird (see: fucked up) form of flattery. Or just don't look at it at all. People will always do what people do, unless we decide to create a Utopian society in which we all act like good little boys and girls. But what would the fun be in that? What would we bitch about in the political forum then? =)
And last but not least, some paragraph seperation would be greatly appreciated. Write this done, you may need it for english class ;)

Again, I thought we learned problems were not to be resolved that way somewhere around the time we evolved from neanderthals to homo sapiens.
Evolution doesn't mean we always solve problems outside of violence; it just means that we come up with new ways and technology to kill people. S) This happened over the period of the entire history of the US. We pretty much butcher whatever language we want to. Ask the French.
It's not the US, it's called ease of use, or slang if you will. Abbreviations, melding, and just plain making up new words is usually because either it's easier to say or more interesting.
S) It really upsets me that my generation cannot experience the same musical revolution as the previous generations did.
Sure they can, either by buying the best of cds, or downloading the music off of the internet.
Now everything is a re-hash of the old stuff. Just ask Jay-Z, Puff Daddy, and all of the other retards that do remakes of classics, and screw it up in the proccess (I want my Jimmy Page on a Led Zepplin album, not some goddawful Godzilla soundtrack with 'Puffy P Diddy' or whatever the hell his name is now.
I wouldn't say EVERYTHING is a re-hash, sure there are many many (many...) songs that use beats or even full songs that have been done before but not EVERYONE does.
S) I belibve the worst of this is the folks that listen to (C)rap music actually belive they want to live life like some moron who deserves to be shot because he disrespects everyone that's not like him. True.
Then we have society. Once again, some years ago humankind was all about morals, honour and respect for fellow human beings. Nowadays, People are yelling things out their vehicles at other people.S) This happened because the democrats were in power for a long while, when Bill Clinton was screwing around and such. Many people are still all about morals, honour and respect for fellow human beings. Now like always, it's just not everybody.
S) Wrong. I have to carry a baseball bat in the car just in case one of these morons takes offense when I begin to yell back; I've actually had to hurt some crazy f00k because he "didn't like the way I was driving and wanted to teach me a lesson" - sufficit to say, he didn't drive away, even when traffic began to flow. Your alpha-male macho pride of the event is rather sickly, as resorting to vilolence should be the last possible resort. I could be reading into this wrong...
Guess I underestimated the developmental and learning capabilities of people these days.S) Don't try to use that as an excuse. Pepole are stupid sometimes, and idiots will ALWAYS be idiots.
Again, true.
S) Hormones. Just be damned glad they didn't try something like killing you and taking her. If I were you, I'd take some self-defense classes or something.
Self-defense classes can be usefull for cases like that, but guys yelling from a car usually doesn't mean they're going to stop and rape.
I find it that older males are generally just BEGGING for me to whup them, simply because they see me in my camo and combat boots and think "This is a threat to my manhood" and they try to dominate me or something.
Ok, see above (alpha-male macho pride).
I tell you this, age may equal experience, but it sure as hell don't equate to intelligence.
Once again, true.
S) This is simply because violence is a final solution, not the first one. It's been 12 years, and still we have to worry if Saddam is going to try launching warheads at Israel again. He's a fucking despot. bottom line.
Well let's see, first they tried giving him weapons, then they tried...? Blowing him up? Futher clarification?
Now, putting a democracy over there may not be any better. Look at Russia. We kick the Commies out, and now the democracy over there is allied with France (as far as I'm concerned, those goat-breeders in France should be speaking German).
How is the worst thing in Russia the fact that they allied with France??? Not the despresion US sank it into or any other factor, just France?
Why must people be so negative toward the atheist? France just doesn't want to fight, they've never wanted to fight.
Evolution doesn't mean we always solve problems outside of violence; it just means that we come up with new ways and technology to kill people. I swear, everyone thinks that if we evolved any more that violence wouldn't be in our thought patterns... what kind of idiot thinks this? We may become less violent, but I'd say we'd merely become more efficient at it. "It's funny, y'know? How it gets in the blood...?" - The Punisher.
Violence is being transfered from our actions to our thoughts (and our surroundings). I do agree that as we think about it more we will get more efficient, just look at the psycho newground films =)
But once again, I underestimated the ability of humankind to learn from our mistakes.S) Sounds a little like a personal problem.
It's also confusing. You underestimated? Perhaps you meant overestimated, because otherwise you're saying that people are learning from their mistakes more than you thought they would.
There must still be something that can be done to make things green and good again.
S) I think this is what the concept of 'Heaven on Earth' is, and it will never be. Want to know why? Not everyone belives in Heaven.
Your statement seems awful out of place, as you're implying that the world will never be green and good because not everyone believes in Heaven??
If these problems were eliminated, we wouldn't have the problem of murder, hate, and suicides.
S) Wrong again. Those are the side affects of the human condition. Besides, killing is part of the food chain, and it will never dissapear.
That and it's entertaining.

I'll note the suggestion about seperating my paragraphs.
I agree it's hard to read a post when it's completely bunched up. I just had to jot all my thoughts down while they were still red hot in my mind.
About those self-defense classes. I'm not too worried about defending myself. I'm very athletic, in excellent shape, and have been working out since I was about 11. I can currently bench around 240 pounds, and as a 15 year old, I only get stronger every day.
It's just one thing - I don't like to fight. Anytime I've ever had to hurt someone, I've felt as though I hurt myself as well. I see violence as a very last resort only. I try to reason with people, but seeing as how these ape minded morons don't seem to work that way, I guess violence would be the only language I'd be able to communicate to them with.

Are you saying that you can't stand bad grammar in general, as in relation to my original rant about things I can't stand. Or are you talking about bad grammar that you saw in this topic in particular?

True that may be, but the scary thing is, he now seems hell bent on this war like a madman regardless of the advisements or disagreements of the UN. In fact, he has now even gone so far as to say that Saddam Hussein has bought into the UN, forcing them to disagree with the US. Fact is, Bush won't consider anything but getting his way, like a child.

Well, the United States is like a child in many ways. Why should we have to wait on the ruling of some "United Nations"? They're just the sentiments and rulings of (nearly) every country in the entire world. Even though they hold no real...what is the word...purpose in anything?
