Well ok lets say that Hip-hop made on Fruity Loops is easy for me and alot of others. But for those who actully put words in there songs take more time and hard work trying to fit everything in perfectly.

Cool song, california love, big Tupac was in there as well wasn't he?

Yep, good example with laffy taffy...literally a 5 minute job. But that's commercial hiphop for you. I would point to Lil Jon as another case in point.

That's right, the veteran of experimental techno tells all!

The secret? Make good music.

Stop being a cock.

Not everyone lives by the same set of values, such is the charm of diversity. If some kid whose music you find poor likes to bark at reviewers, what can you say to the kid so he stops? "Reviews are good for you"? "Make better music"? The kid doesn't care. Avoid these kids. They live in a different world and you won't explain your wisdom to them. Kind of the same way you won't explain to a hungry bear that it is a bad idea to eat your food - the bear thinks too differently to understand.

Perhaps they're the ones who reviewed your music negatively. Don't respond to a review you don't like! If you think the situation is unfair, report the reviewer to a higher authority on the website, who actually has power, and don't continue the war. This is much slyer than any verbal comeback.

I used to believe in the existence of only good music and bad music, but popular culture has ruined the concept and the masses can now enjoy a third category: overrated music, which is barren of beauty.

If you're an author and you think your music is great, there's no way for you to tell whether it's true or not. You can only believe. Belief is not empirical evidence, therefore you cannot retort to an abusive review with "shut up! try and make something better yourself!" or anything along those lines.

You can't state a solution in three words. I barely listed a few suggestions or points in four paragraphs. Perhaps I'm getting agitated over a silly problem in a digital environment, but it involves real people.

Ok. Here we go.

Kind of the same way you won't explain to a hungry bear that it is a bad idea to eat your food - the bear thinks too differently to understand.

You overestimate my words as though they were a scorned judgement to his ideals.

Far from it.

You go on to pull all this out of your ass and defend indifference to improving your art form!

But, I have to agree that doing your work and improving your work does not involve people or it's prestige, as you might find these points already laden in my record. It involves your own interest in the subject. Not the sudden whim to make music a certain way for the sake of doing so without even being able to come up with something other then "I just... Like it?".

Perhaps they're the ones who reviewed your music negatively. Don't respond to a review you don't like! If you think the situation is unfair, report the reviewer to a higher authority on the website, who actually has power, and don't continue the war. This is much slyer than any verbal comeback.

Wow, vengence is so sweet when you don't have the balls to defend yourself in any capacity!

Then by your logic, I can get you banned for ever opening your mouth to me.

I used to believe in the existence of only good music and bad music, but popular culture has ruined the concept and the masses can now enjoy a third category: overrated music, which is barren of beauty.

So is that good or bad? It's only overrated when you consider the masses, and we already negated the masses as a factor aiding the artist, making this invalid, unless you decided to switch perspectives and make this comment as a listener, then it's out of context.

You can't state a solution in three words.

It's the easiest solution.

It's an implication.

It's an ideal I left out in the open for you to piece together, not immediately deny it because you don't have that ability. You barely even interpreted it, you turned it around and skewed it as though it were a vice, simply because you found no other supporting information and decided to connect it to prestige.

Hmm: So what would be "good music"? As stated before, whatever it is that you're satisfied with. Even more gratification can come of it when you fit it within the boundries of something cohesive, something that just doesn't sound like something.

Perhaps I'm getting agitated over a silly problem in a digital environment, but it involves real people.

If it was said in the real world, our conversing would take twice as long with even worse results. "Digital environments" are ideal places to converse about such things, it is a place for you to piece together your ultimate points.

Solution to this issue.

If you make music and someone insults you about it, and you take offence, it means that you actually care what someone else thinks.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, i'd care for peoples opinions who i respect on my music, anyone else can go goatse themselves.

If some little shit is having a go and you care enough to EITHER

a) retort

b) grass them

you have no self respect, and you rely on the respect of others to make you feel good inside.

So the solution, condensed,

BITCHES STOP YOUR WHINING, ITS POINTLESS. NO ONE REALLY, ACTUALLY GIVES A FUCK, IF YOU'RE EXTRACY OR THE LESSER KNOWN ERKIE, NO ONE ACTUALLY CARES, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW.

now, if only i had some good music so people would listen to what i have to say :P

Look man, I'll begin by saying that the only part of my post that was directed at you was "stop being a cock", and it wasn't said as a meaningless insult. I was referring to the animal, which has a reputation for being too proud - I thought your sarcastic comment was too cocky. The rest of the post merely alludes to you, once, when I say one can't state a solution in three words. I didn't expect you to respond so harshly. Lets be honest, had I not written "stop being a cock" you wouldn't have responded this harshly to any of my suggestions. It's very easy to find flaws in ideas when you spitefully interpret them the wrong way.

It's very easy to find flaws in ideas when you spitefully interpret them the wrong way.

We both have different ways of finding "flaws":
You look for technical errors, rather then errors in the "ideas" being proposed.

Am I trying to harm the other person or suspend them from their privileges for misconduct?

There's no specification in your initial post of how a "negative review" becomes "unfair", which is what was exploited:

Perhaps they're the ones who reviewed your music negatively. Don't respond to a review you don't like! If you think the situation is unfair, report the reviewer to a higher authority on the website.

A negative review is any review that criticizes the music for lack of creativity or technical value, (but can also praise the musicians "potential"; which doesn't validate anything, save for not being an asshole) essentially leaving:

"Your music sucks now, maybe you'll get better". "Hey! Thanks for listening man!"

Metaphorically speaking, I just got hit in the face by a purse.

TEHEHEHEH.

You have a username.

It's above each and every one of your posts.

Just think of all the work you could have done instead of discussing God, space-time and matter. Perhaps it's a little bold to assume you engage in such discussions, but if you do, you should understand: it's good excercise for the brain.

Erkie, here are some logic flaws:

At 9/18/06 12:58 AM, Erkie wrote: You overestimate my words as though they were a scorned judgement to his ideals.

Totally irrelevant. I'm guessing you're thinking that I was referring to the comment you made about modern hip-hop. I hadn't read your comment about modern hip-hop before seeing your response to my big post, so though I realize there is no way I can prove this to you, the reference is chronologically impossible. There's no intended connection, nor any strong accidental one I can see, between my bear analogy and your comment on modern hip-hop. My analogy existed for the purpose of explaining why it is stupid to argue with someone who doesn't play by your rules. Overestimate" may be tangent to the word you were looking for - maybe "misinterpret"?

You go on to pull all this out of your ass and defend indifference to improving your art form!

Say what? I defend no such thing. I defend leaving alone those who have a different set of ground rules than you. More specifically, I'm saying it's stupid to leave a review for someone who treats the review process in a way you find inappropriate. Makes sense, no? You can't prove what you say is right if you and the other person don't agree on what is right.

Then by your logic, I can get you banned for ever opening your mouth to me.

That's completely untrue. By my logic, you can report me to a website official and hope I get banned.

It's an ideal I left out in the open for you to piece together, not immediately deny it because you don't have that ability. You barely even interpreted it, you turned it around and skewed it as though it were a vice, simply because you found no other supporting information and decided to connect it to prestige.

Assumptions are the worst way to debate. Simply because I didn't say anything deep about your solution doesn't mean I hadn't thought about it. The way I interpreted your solution was, just like you said, as an ideal. It wasn't helpful at all. Moreover, it was said in a conceited and condescending manner, which ruined the joke for me if it was one. That was my entire quarrel with you.

That's not a flaw, that's a misunderstanding.

Same thing as above.

You can't prove what you say is right if you and the other person don't agree on what is right.

Wow, that was a fantastic sentence(?).

2. a formal contest in which the affirmative and negative sides of a proposition are advocated by opposing speakers.

Essentially the same thing, the only thing in the way is if it breaks the rules. You failed to defined negatives, which brought me to that conclusion, irrational? That's the point.

Assumptions are the worst way to debate.

What are those?

It wasn't helpful at all.

That's how you saw it as a vice. It was all over a misunderstanding, so it's not like it matters anymore.

Moreover, it was said in a conceited and condescending manner, which ruined the joke for me if it was one.
