I mean if you make a collab, STICK with it. If you drop a collab, I agree, who wants you making another?

Yeah those are all good, but who would keep track of for instance dropped collabs and one callab at a time per person?

Personally, I'd say min BA = 3.50. People's BAs have taken a real lift since they became based on the top entries. The collab trend is nowhere near as bad as it used to be when I laid my rules down, but it's still going to need restrictions at some point.

Oh sure... when I say this exact same thing in every collab posted, not wanting to make a spam topic explaining how I feel about the collab issue, no one agrees, but when jmtb02 posts a whole thread, EVERYONE agrees with him =P

I've been complaining about this god damn issue for the past few months. Not after clock day, right after Tom changed the BA system, but everyone said I should just let it be...

Well I agree, there is a huge collab overload and someone just needs to change the rules. It's not hard. Anyone who has a BA of 3.5 can start a collab, simple. And if you don't, you can ask a mod to have permission. I think that would be best...

So yeahh, I haven't read through the whole thread yet, and I don't plan to right now, but some mod, preferably Denvish, fix the rules.... for god sakes.

You've got people like Cookie-Clock and Hypernova running free on this BBS, making collabs 24/7, dropping their old collabs, and nothing is being done. IT MUST END!

3.7 BA would be fine, OR two daily prizes. I just don't think it's fair to say to someone with two daily prizes that they can't make a collab.

I'm almost totally agreeing with this. But I would also like to add that the person who created it has their part done already (before they start). And, I think we should stick with the 3.00 BA rule, unless someone knows their animations and they got better or something. And what do you mean "Collab Brainstorm" topics? I think it would be fine to see how much interest you would get and what it should be about.

Haha, nah it's fine. I'm glad someone actually made this thread because its so true. There are toooooo many collabs. Makes me mad, I don't know why it makes me mad, but it does, and it must stop =p

See, the problem with these threads is people starting collabs never see them, sticking them for even a day could help that problem though.

That is true. A lot more needs to be considered for a collab. BBS appeal, alias material, website, and even how well known they are.

BA is useless.

Say somebody was involved in great submissions like a 4.1x scoring collabs, several of them but he didn't get co-author. then on his personal flashes, it doesn't get as high of a score due to simple idiots zero-ing the flashes bringing it's score down.

How bout this

1: Must have experience with flash and obviously have submissions in the portal
2: Must of been involved in the production of a seperate collab (not necccesary but nice to have collab experience before actually creating one)
3: Must have set FPS,Stage dimensions and rules.
4: Menu must be done
5: Their individual part- Done

it would be much easier if the collabsist had their part already done as a shining example of the quality that is to be expected. I know this is often impractical but it will be incredibly effective.

How about we just let the mods judge for themselves whether a collab should be locked or not? All of these weird and wonderful rules just get in the way of good ol' fashioned common sense.

Just have the creator show example work of their own or for the collab, it will also help people decide if they are to join and other stuff.

Every day they bring down my batting average .1 point. It's sad they have nothing better to do. I have an excellent idea of who it is.

guys you know, i'd be willing to approve/decline collabs through PMing if you wanted. I really dont think BA is a good limit to judge people with.

Honestly, I don't really know. I talked to an admin about it back then, and it turns out it's a little too tricky to track someone down who's targeting your submissions specifically. Just more time than they can afford when there are bigger fish to fry. I just kinda toughed it out until they lost interest.

I believe generalized approval is the best way. BA's are completely worthless because of the clock day shit, or even people self voting for 2 weeks to reach BA limit... That and people like me like to keep their shitty old flash cartoons, even if they have horrible scores, thus lowering my BA drastically.

And basing people based on portal awards is idiotic. Portal awards are just grab-bags that you might happen to get by chance, unless, you are someone who hounds the portal night and day, waiting for really low scoring top submissions. Ive seen plenty of high scoring movies not get awards, solely due to the fact the portal was already flooded with high quality films.

Once again, we don't need some set of rules to point to in order to justify locking a topic. Casual forumers are never gonna read them anyways. It doesn't cross their minds, when coming in here - "Hey, I sure wonder if there's a thread somewhere in this forum telling me some unofficial rules about making a collab". The mods can use their own discretion to decide which collabs should carry and which should not. If a user feels they have a case for or against a specific collab, they can contact a mod. The resurgence of collabs lately is because we started to ease up. All we need to do is return to our old ways and things will be ginger again. This time we just won't let up.
