Troma controlled the hosting as well as the top banner space (which included pop-up code)... So all of the pop-ups coming through were on their end. Unfortunately, they got screwed by a lot of the ad companies. Getting screwed is VERY COMMON on the internet... I wonder what the equation is - you get to keep 20% of the revenue you supposedly generate, perhaps? :)
Any pop-ups from now on will be directly from us, and we don't intend to allow third party advertisers to run their own third-party pop-ups, which is where things really got out of control. By keeping a few well-controlled campaigns, we think it will work out the best for everyone - because you will know we are benefitting from the pop-ups you see.
