Yup. The image type doesnt matter. Select it and hit CRTL and B to make it into a shape.

Do the same for the image you want it to turn into but on another frame. Click tween and select 'shape' at the bottom.

Hope i helped :)

That won't shape tween properly.

I make flashes because I can.

If they're bitmaps, you may have to resort to the tried and tested blur - fade - unblur method.

Or something less complicated if you don't have Flash 8.

It's not the filetype that's the problem. I think something needs to be made of vectors to shape tween properly, and if it isn't drawn in Flash the image will almost invariably be made of pixels.

Traced-bitmaps would work though. Just select your bitmap, go to Modify>Bitmap>Trace Bitmap, adjust the settings if need be, and press okay. Now your file is in vector format for shape tweening.

Are the bitmaps drastically different? Usually shape tweens are not the most intelligent tweens. (not saying that the author who uses them isn't smart, just that they tend to act retarded at times.) If they're too different in terms of color and shape then you may have one of those troublesome, disapear to a side then come back routines. Bitmaps, gifs, jpegs etc. need to be traced using the traced bitmap option.

From past experience, I've never gotten bitmaps to shape tween well. I suggest that you try a blur fade, alpha fade, or the classic fade to black fade. What you're trying to do sounds like a job for another program. However, that tip about tracing bitmaps is sure to work, but 'vectorizing' the bitmap sort of destroys the original photo, so what's the point?

Hope I helped.

You can also use "Break Apart" to make it tweenable. I know, I read the person's post (Whatever your name is, I have a short attention span) and traced bitmaps work too, but I'm too lazy for that?
