When I looked it up, Ken's, Ryu's, Akuma's, etc. styles have no resemblence to Shotokan whatsoever. The SF1 sprites, maybe. But after that, it's all capcom. And I heard that Ansatsuken is actually just Kyoushikan Karate, mixed with Judo, and Tae Kwon Do (I think) But if anything, it's more like Kenpo, in my opinion. Especially the style I train in.
Wow! I never knew! That is some pretty amazing info!
Mainly because of 2 things: 1: They both have deadly techniques, 2: They're both against real-life situations. (The only diffrences are that my style isn't meant for killing, just self-defense, and we don't have other-worldy powers, sadly. :()
Deadly they are if used in a bad way! I almost killed somebody by hitting their spine w/ an uppercut from behind!
And the reason why I picked those moves for Ken, Ryu, and Akuma is because all three of those were carried into Megaman, and are recognized as such. If you don't believe me, look at MMx4's Magma Dragoon spritesheet.
Yeah I noticed it just now! Pretty cool!
You'll see full well why I chose them. And I'm glad you liked the pic, I try. Ryu is all about punches, Ken is all about kicks, Akuma is about badassness, Sakura needs a little more training, Dan is a joke, and Sean is on his way. And for some reason, I think that if Sheng Long were a real character, he'd probably be Dan's grandfather. Case in point: both Chinese, VERY similar hairstyles/how hadoukens are formed, both trained in Ansatsuken.
Dan's granpa? Fuck no way in hell! He's a disgrace! His arrogance got him kicked out of the Ansatsuken Karate school in the first place! If Sakura were in SF4, would she finally master the Ansatsuken techniques and kiss goodbye to some of her original moves?
