Slime Moulds

I love these things.

In fact, when I get a place of my own, I may cultivate one.

They are all kinds of awesome, they are basically a gel like substance and capable of movement.

I think they are quite cute aswell.

On this website, you can see the Fuligo Septica growth cycle (and this is a rarity, a slime I preffer when it has bloomed)

What do you guys think of them?

Teehee, I remember learning about this two years ago in Biology with my student teacher who was arrested for second-degree murder.

We had to grow a slime mould or something, but I remember looking at the slideshows he prepared, and everyone going "EWWWWWWW".

Aren't they just one big cell? I read in a book I have that you can find them in some backyards. If you cut one in half, it becomes 2 slime molds.

I've seen pictures of those in my book for my biology class at school. There was one called a pretzel slime mold that looked really cool.

But once you get to sexual reproduction (minus the female ovulation/oogenosis and spermatogenesis) it's quite fun learning about the naughty bits.
And all about the organ systems. So fun. :)
