First off, this is not a topic for you to bitch and moan about your summer reading.

I'd just like to know what book(s) (if any) you're reading for a summer reading assignment or for any other reason. I'm reading (for 11th grade):

Tomorrow, When the War Began, by
John Marsden.
A fiction about austrailian teenagers who return after a camping trip to find their country has been invaded.

AND

Life of Pi, by
Yann Martel
A fiction about a man (Pi) who ends up adrift on a raft with a bengal tiger for company.

So, has anybody read either? i haven't started yet so i can't provide much input.

I've read "Tom Green: Hollywood Causes Cancer". Which is a great book that I highly recomend. If you're a fan of him or not its a good read.

I'm reading "The Catcher in the Rye". Which seems pretty good so far.

And I plan to read "Fight Club" after that.

I read "Brave New World" over the vacation, and a few technical books. I also studied a bit of German and tried to learn a few japanese words (which is useless since I am black).

Books that I'd normally read would be anything by Michael Crichton or Arthur C. Clarke. I really love their blunt styles. They don't give a little happy-go-lucky version of sci-fi.

I think Crichton orgasms when he writes about disembowlment because he uses that method of death a lot.

Life of Pi....before I picked a few new books out today I noticed that one again. It was high up on the shelf and I couldn't reach it. A fat man wanted to help out, but I was too shy and so I walked away. I've heard of it before and it looks pretty interesting...at least more than the first one you mentioned. I'll probably read it eventually after I finish the ones I just bought. ^^

I don't have any summer reading that I have to do. Rather, I read during the summer to keep my mind fresh and active. Books I've read this summer include:

Alphabet of Manliness by Maddox
I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell by Tucker Max
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Fifth Business by Robertson Davies
The Manticore by Robertson Davies
World of Wonders by Robertson Davies

All my reading was Recreational.

I re-read The Watchmen. One of my favorite books of all time.

At the moment I am near finishing Michael Crichton's State of Fear. So far I am very fond of the book. A good mix of fiction and journalism.

that's a good one. If you haven't already, i'd recommend his book, Sphere. That was the first crichton book i read and still my favorite. I think i read it in 2 days because it drew me in so strongly.
