I can honestly say that I can sweep pick
I started learning to sweep pick from some random online lesson thing, it gives you a few basic exercises. After that, I learned the ending solo for "Mordecai" by Between the buried and me, The intro sweep for "Heretics and Killers" by Protest the Hero", and finally, I can somewhat play the intro to Alaska, by between the buried and me.
For me, getting down how seep picking works (the timing, the movement, etc) took about 3 weeks to get it down. Then one day in my fourth week, I worked on it for about 4 hours straight and perfected it.
It takes some patience, and you have to have a strong ring and pinkey finger, both of which should be able to move independently.
After you get it down, it's pretty much cake to learn other sweeps and increase your speed.
Just practice and you'll get it with time.
