racism in newgrounds

in the level icons, is it racist that the colour of your skin turns from white to black? and then after turning black it starts showing weapons?

im not necisarily saying it is racist, but i think its ironic that NG is so over sensitive about anything racist and then it shows its level icons turning more and more violent while its skin turns darker!
anyone else agree?

thats interesting, i never thought of that and it dos seem racist when you think about it. the better the weapon the darker the skin. it should be a choice to make it white or black.

I don't think it's racist at all. Maybe there's some hidden racial message based on which levels are black and what they have, but I doubt it. It's probably a unintentional throwback from political correctness, but until I see some explanation how it is intendedd to offend or oppress or attack, I just don't care really.

oh, and the people who get banned are the ones who find some way to get around the filter: splitting the word N## ### or using l337: N####|2 or such. These sort of things are extremely hard for a computer to automatically find, but I doubt the mods will miss that sort of thing, so don't think about pressing your luck.

Well in the BBS rules of posting it says it's a big no-no to post racist remarks. I have no problem with this rule, but it annoys me that they consider it one of the "Two big ones" to follow. Considering I believe it's just a word and doesn't warrant such a stigma.

Funny thing is that whomever wrote the BBS rules considers using a racist word worse than posting goatse or talking about network piracy.

well i doubt that the makers did it on purpose, i just thought that it was ironic how they were so sensitive about the subject and yet showed something that might be viewed as racist in itself.
but in my opinion i dont even think it is racist and if it is i dont think it could offend anyone in a serious way.

Exactly. They didn't do that on purpose. They propbibly were just making some of the icons white and some black. It just turned out this way. And besides, does anyone really care? I never even noticed it before this tread.

But if people are offended by it, talk to Wade or Tom. We're getting new icons soon anyways; now would be a good time to point it out if you really give a crap.

I thought the skin colors were kinda funny myself, but it didn't seem like a big deal. This isn't really important as politics. Considering all of the REAL racism out there, I think the skin color of the icons doesn't really matter. If it was a concern they could always have it be some color like lightish grey, to dark red. Something gothic like that. C'mon Fulp doesn't hate black people!
