Hey, what's up everyone? I've been so damn busy with school, I haven't been able to get on. Anyways, me and the rest of the band (being my 2 brothers and my sister) have decided to do our first Death Metal song. I've already come up with two possible names for the song and would like to know which title sounds better: "Crusifiction" or "Shadow of Death". I'd love to know what you guy's think. :D

"Crucifixition" is way stereotypical, go for "Shadow of Death".

If you want to go DM, stick with no vocals first. Most likely your vocalist will butcher it completely.

Agreed, death vocals can take a while to develop.

And remember, keep it br00tal.

Every string tuned to C is a nice cheap way to get a br00tal sound.

Um... one thing I should point out... I'm the band's vocalist. Well, me and my younger sister, but I do most of the really deep vocals. Plus she's on lead guitar. And I sometimes sing (is that the right word to use?) with a few Cannibal Corpse songs when I'm in my car. I'm actually better than I thought I'd be. Oh, btw, I spelled it "Crusifiction" not Crusifixion". But if I do use that title, I'll spell it with the "X".

You need to, how should I say this, "find your voice". Don't rush these things and if you're going to go DM, then I suggest trying covers to get the hang of it. Thats what my band did for ska. Then once we were comfortable with our horns section, we made our own. Good luck with it man.

O, one more thing. I think it's perfectly fine to post up completed lyrics and this is for criticism only. Why only post up half a song and leave the other one unrevised? (Not sure if that's a word)

I said a bit ago I had a try out for a local band on bass.... well I couldn't go today as I was supposed to. As I broke a bass string and only got a new set today. However, I've rescheduled for next Wednesday :).

I probably will. Theres no other people in line for the place. The guitarist is one of my best friends too.
I would of joined ages ago but they play a lot of Children of Bodom esque stuff... and lots of CoB covers. And if you remember the Metal Hell discussion a while back you'll realise my hestitation to join. However I like the bass to CoB songs so I decided I'd help out a friend.

We would of been able to start gigging soon, but the keyboard player left the ther week, and they don't want to do gigs without a full lineup... :(

Well "Swans" was a dead giveaway, I shouldn't of said that. Divide by Zero is one yes, and FGSFTS is another. The last one is TYK, which is a Smashing Pumpkins reference, one to their song "XYU". Great song btw.

I discussed this with the others, and they like the way that sounds (basically they agreed that "Crusifixion of the Shadow of Death" would be a sweet title for the song). I don't know why I didn't think of it. lol Thanks for helping us with that part.
