Hey everyone! If your starting a band or looking for recognition, this is the place for you! Here you can talk about recording, live sound, ask around for help with getting started on recorded, and anything else involving starting a band. You can ask what we think of a new song you wrote. This is the place to come to if you're in a band or want to start one!

To join simply tell us the name of your band and the kind of music you play. If you're not in a band simply tell us a little about yourself.

O and the rules for this club are as follow:

1. Keep the cursing to a minimum.
2. Only use constructive criticism. If it doesn't help the person, then it does not need to be said.
3. Follow the normal BBS rules.

I'm a member of two bands, Black Anarchist and Olmos.
BA is a mix of funk, noise, electronica and metal. I provide bass, vocals, guitar and keyboards for the group.
Olmos, on the other hand, is a directionless jam group that I play guitar for.

I'm in two bands:

Epitaph of the Damned is a Progressive Death/Black Metal band that I play bass for. Although at the moment we're kind dormant as we're waiting till we get back to college and are reunited. I've never actually practiced with them, but I offered to play bass so I suppose I'm a member, I just gotta see how it goes. And we have a few songs ready apparently and a few gigs in the waiting. So it should blossom into something promising.
Epitaph of the Damned Myspace.

The other band is hardly as band, sort of two friends on the rebound from the death of an ex band. Nothing ever happened and I think my friend has no interest in it anymore. Thus I'm saving up for a home studio and I plan to turn it into a solo project. And if I'm happy I'll collect some musician friends and maybe take it to stage. I already have a few songs (well about 10) waiting to be recorded and/or finalised. So once I get the home studio (Tascam US-122) its all systems go.
The name is currently Messerschmitt, but I dunno if I want to keep it that way. I may change it sometime. In terms of genre I'm planning on going down the Progressive Metal route.... inspired by the likes of Dream Theater, Opeth, The Mars Volta and a bit of everything really. Metalcore, Black Metal, Thrash.... very experimental.

So yeah, I'd like to join if thats okay.

I'm Larry B, and my alias is my band name. I am the leader of Chu Powuh Houze Recordings. So far, I've had two people record for me, but they're related to me.

I'm a keyboardist, and I have this fine song I composed on midi. However, I really need some sound clips or some people to preform for me. I need a drummer for a part, a small bass part, and two flute sections.

Anybody interested, PM me and I'll e-mail you a piece of midi that I'd like you to play. If you send me your name, I will put you in the preformance credits. Otherwise, I'll just use your alias.

Oh, yes, and I forgot to mention:

The song is for this contest

You can listen to/download Black Anarchist's experimental electronica here.

P.S. The tracks with "noise" listed as their genre are remixes of an old Olmos demo tape called "Child Murderers" that was destroyed after the laptop the tracks were recorded on overheated because my ex-girlfriend decided to play Solitiare for six hours without giving the computer a chance to cool down. Damn tiny notebooks and their heat-sensitive parts....

The 4/4 Acidhouse thingy was ok, but it got a bit samey after a while. Nice job remixing, though!

I will definitly try out for your midi thing. I play drums so you've got a drummer for the part. So basically all I have to do is re-enact the one midi you send me? By the way is that all we get? Just our name in the credits? Not complaining, just asking.

Thanks, I kind of aim for repetition anyways(most of my electronica isn't intended to be masterful, just fun shit that you can get knackered and dance to), I appreciate the compliment. "4/4" seems to be my flagship piece now, it's the only one I ever hear people talking about.

Yes, all you have to do is re-enact the midi thing. It's easy, but I suck at drums/bass/flute.

I really needed a drummer. And, yes, just your name in the credits. Most preformers don't even get that. Then again, those people are paid......

YOU DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING! :P

Well, that's it. All I need is a person who plays the flute! YAY!!!!!!

Hey everybody.

I'd like to join. I'm currently in a band called "DeadReckoning". I play lead guitar and we're recording soon. We play Hard Rock mostly. We're covering War Pigs (Black Sabbath), Purple Haze (Hendrix), and Crazy Train (Ozzy), and we got a crapload of orginal songs. site

Hello everyone, I think I'd like to join.

Currently I am in a melodic/progressive death metal band, currently unnamed. For about a year it has been myself as lead guitar and 2 of my buddies playing bass and rhythm guitar, we have cycled through a good chunk of singers, drummers, and keyboardists and have recently settled on a singer and drummer (still lookin for a keyboardist.) We mostly sound like old Arch Enemy, At the Gates, Opeth, and a little Symphony X mixed together sorta. We should be recording sometime in September once we finish teaching the drummer the crap, I'll be making a Myspace soon I suppose. Thanks.

As if, sounds horrible at the moment?
Or is just a horrible experience?

Cause I love the recording. I do it as a course at college afterall.

Well I'm using a free shareware program called reaper and a computer headset so its the recording that isn't going to sound good. The experience is fun though.

I would like to join and i am in two bands right now, well actually one band and one solo project featuring people i know. My actual band is The Flooded (thinking about name change) which is an Industrial/Avant-Garde/Metal band and my solo project is The Cynical Chain which is a pure Avant-Garde project (was my name for a while). In The Flooded the linup is:

Alex (me): Bass, Vocals, Keyboards, Samples, Noise, songwriting, Trumpet (sounds dorky i know)

Nick: Lead Guitar, Lap Steel Guitar, Add'l vocals,

John: Drums, Percussion

Lefty (nickname, we picked him up from his audition and he never told us his real name, hmmm kinda strange now that i think about it): Rhythm Guitar, Xylophone, (yes xylophone), mixing, editing, ect

And The Cynical Chain is

Alex: Synth, Piano, Trumpet, Bass, Violin, Drums (computer really), Samples, Vocals

Guests: Nick (steel guitar), Kamille (my sister, female vocals), John (drums), The Great Exploso (don't ask about name, Noises, Weird Vocals, reminscent of Mike Patton genius), and Lefty (mixing)

Here I am, bored with everything.

Why do you say trumpet is dorky? I have a sax and trumpet in my band. I'm looking for a trombone player too. I've played piano, guitar, drums, and TRIED trumpet and from what I've experienced, it's one of the hardest instruments I know of. You should be proud of playing the trumpet.

I said that the trumpet is dorky because it's kinda weird if you have it in a metal band, but since we're like Mr.Bungle in many different ways it's kind of forgivable, I have been playing since 3rd grade so i am pretty good.

Nice man. The trumpet that's in my band played since 4th grade and we're going into sophmore year now.
