Actually, when my father died, I didn't cry when I got the news, I didn't cry when I saw the body at the funerals. I only cried when I saw a display of old pictures of him. We didn't talk much the last year, so I guess it was the old memories that brought the tears...

Having your dad die isn't uncommon. It just depends on how old you are at the time.
If you are four and your father is eaten by a bear on a hike with the family then that could be horrifying. If your dad dies is his sleep when you are 40 then it's different.
