The Halo games are what I want to expect from FPS games. I want sensible controls, soft movement, natural weapon strength, and obvious-but-fun levels. Halo is a perfectly constructed FPS. That being said, it's not a fantastic game. Discluding games like Half-Life 2 and Metroid Prime (they're not entirely considered shooters) Halo and/or Halo 2 might be by default the best first-person shooters of today.It's sadly shocking to say that. Halo needs more. Its story mode is weak, short, and overly simple. Its versus mode is too rushed and confined. Its weapon selection is small. Its overall size is not impressive. It needs more. Far Cry Insticts surpasses it in creativity, but the multiplayer -- though the most impressive level design I've ever seen -- was boring and dull. Black looked nice and played well, but it was short and I didn't care for the story. Plus, no multiplayer?

Halo and Halo 2 are fun games, but when people consider it to be one of the best games of all time, they're sorely mistaken by about 300 games. When I read reviews that give it a 10 in all fields (graphics, audio, presentation, etc.) I'm shocked that professional critics are doing this. Halo 2 was surprisingly bad looking for the Xbox's power over the PS2 when the PS2 can generate something as min-bogglingly beautiful as Metal Gear Solid 3.

Its what you make of it. It is my favorite game. But im sensable enough to realize that its probably not the "best" there is. I for one dont think people who complain about fanboys are any better then fanboys themselves, what gives you the right to tell them what they should think? It is the only game I can have as much fun as I have on it for as long as I have. Its a great game for that reason alone, if for nothing else.

Not many games I can ever claimed to have played on and off for more than a year. Except maybe Madden or some Hockey game.

Well, here's my opinion.

Halo 2 is a great game. The physics are near-perfect, the environments are beautiiful, and also it has a great online community. I'm not impressed by story mode for the most part, though. I feel it is pretty repetitive, and boring. However, online mode is amazing, I think. It is fun, and challenging and awesome.

I think games get really fun after you've played it for a while and gotten used to the controls and levels. I think many of the players who hhate halo probably only played for a small amount of time and then quit.
