This may sound stupid, but, shouldnt NG audio members think about getting record deals? Ive heard some great music in that portal. (Good enough for a lable.)

Not stupid. There are one or two that have or are trying... I would pursue it but nobody would buy my shite. - I might sell two copies - and that's only if I buy one myself.

I've heard this rumour that one of the ideas that Tom has glanced at momentarily was forming an NG label and combing the AP for potential artists.

Personally I think it would be a great idea so long as the numbers look good.

But then, I also agree with Erkie, many of us do this simply for our own enjoyment - I think that if anyone is here looking for fame and fortune then they are seriously in the wrong place.

Then again - there is nothing wrong at all with looking to make a little money from your talents. If you can profit a bit then more power to you!

I say that this is the perfect place to have music featured in movies so it is a good way to start! True, many people do it purely for enjoyment but you never know who will be listening.

I am also loving that rumor about an NG label.

I know Dimrain47 is gonna make an Album and sell it through PayPal, but I don't think many(if any) other artists aren't going to or don't want to make money for the music they make.

One thing that's neat about the audio portal is the variety of involvement in music the artists have. There are some who write an occasional song just for fun, others who are more serious but don't intend on taking a career in music, and then there are others still who are planning to compose music for their living. There are several artists here that are already selling CDs, and others who are writing soundtracks for games and film.

I e-mailed Tom about an NG label a while ago, and it seem i wasn´t the first one to think of something similiar like that...
What most likley is closer to the future is a NG DVD with flashes though... and perhaps we´ll get some audio on there too? :)

I disagree, I've been offered possible "signing" previously but declined due to being uncertain wether or not I was ready. Getting a record label isn't really that great when you know you're not gonna sell more than 10-20 cd's.

Right. The fact is, when you are doing music for a living you have to reflect on how a certain signing or performance will affect your fan base, exposure, and finances. Although money should never be your prime motive, it has to be factored into the big picture, or else you're going to end up living inside a box on the side of a street.

That's what bugs me about illegally sharing music (and programs), and the attitude of a lot of people that do it. I've seen people say "Oh, they are just being greedy trying to get every little penny out of the public they can". The artists put a lot of time and money into making a cd that people want to buy, so the least you can do is support them.
