Well. This morning while eating breakfast, I flipped on the tele to see if there was anything bearable to watch. Of course there was nothing, so I spaced out and ignored it for a while, focusing on my Rice Chex. This is when my spidey senses for annoying teen drama went to maximum, as I heard a typical deep voiced narrator saying something about how scandalous the lives of our youth is. I looked up and there was an excerpt of an overweight 14 year old saying, "I don't know if I should tell my parents i'm bisexual, they might get mad at me." I sighed, and rolled my eyes, ready to change the channel. They then showed a group of similar teenagers at a party, every now and then cutting out to show one of them saying how cool it is to have sex, who they want to bang, glorifying being a slut.. also, as icing on the cake, how awesome it is to do drugs, and be popular, etc etc.
Really, what the fuck?
So, just now, I decided to interview one of my friends who is in that age range, trying to figure out just how widespread and seemingly "accepted" this revolting behavior is now. Here is some of what was said:

Sarah: Would you say that there is great emphasis to have sex amongst your peers?
Hogan: not like the movie, "the last american virgin"
S: I mean, is there a lot of sexual activity happening? Do they consider it "cool", etc?
H: but its widly excepted
H: not really cool

S: Would you say most other students are.. "loose"?
H: maybe your uncool if you dont partake
H: ehh some
H: quiet a few

S: Would you say that your friends are being reckless with their decisions?
S: Pregnancy is a big deal!
H: well i would say the std's would be a bigger deal
H: but there is low risk if you arnt' stupid

Pregnancy, sex rings, no sense of safety. I'm honestly concerned about our youth. It seems there has been a pretty rapid decline as of late.
This brings me to my "on-topic" question. What would you say are the causes of this, and how can it be helped?
Target the problem, and figure out ways to act accordingly. The best method.
