wow, I looked around that site more http://pascalcampion.com and all of the animations are worth watching, they're awesome. The movement, and expression, and his artwork is great too. I especially like this animation http://pascalcampion.com/door.swf. It goes on forever, it could end at almost any point but it just keeps going, and its all impressive.

This question isn't directed towards anyone in specific, but, do you think that animation could benefit from sound or if it would be better left silent?

i think the door one could definatley benifit from sound effects, but i cant think of how to explain it... i'll try...
when you see all those birds fly out of the door you think "oh all those birds jsut flew out that door" but when theres a big bang and hear chirping and millions of wings flapping it just adds to the effect and the mood and you say "holy shit thats a shit load of birds that just came out of that door"
i tried
try out listening to an animation that has sound with the speakers off, you'll noticethe effectiveness

Yeah, like the mrman series if you ever saw it, there are no voices but he jams it full of cartoony sounds. His stuff to music is all hot. I wonder how fast he does those...cause they are pretty sketchy and there's no sound, or a play button, and it doesn't stop. It's like he just throws them together and leaves it at that.

Yeah, sight alone doesn't define an event. You live through all five senses. To really get a viewer to feel as if they are in the story, you have to rope all five senses and pull them across the line of reality. Good ways to do this is having dynamics in sound effects, and lively animations. The animations don't have to look realistic, they just have to be animated. Nothing living is static. The other senses are harder to pull in because you can only use sight and sound, so you have to give the illusion of smell and touch/feeling throughwhat you have to offer. The human mind is easily deluded though.

The reason its dying is because only Luis is making tutorials. I'd make one but I'm not exactly sure what I have to teach.

It's been quite sometime since this baby has been updated, I'm sure there are more techniques for CS3 now as well as much more things on the internet by our users. Think it's time for a nice bump? I do. :)

Anyway one of the most useful things in the animator arsenal is Sham's V-Cam
Its a fucking godsend. I'm lame so I just started using it yesterday.
Flash Hacks : V-Cam
You lazy bastard! I've been using that for months and I've also been giving the link to people on the BBS and now you take all the credit!
It is a very nice tool though.

Mind if I put up a few spriting tips for all those sprite users out there? Or does that stuff belong in another thread?
