Ads removed? 2006-08-01 05:28:26 Reply

Hey, I dunno if this the right forum to talk about google adsense, but hell I just don't get it.

I've been using google adsense for about one year and a half, and it was all working great... UNTIL 12 hours ago. My ads suddenly disappeared through my whole site. So I go all like 'OMGDIDIDOSOMETHINGWRONG?' and I check my email. No emails from google. I then decide to check my google adsense account. No problems there as well.

So, what do you think is the problem? Was I banned from their program? Did I do something wrong? Is it temporary?

Any answers would be gladly appreciated, because frankly, I have no idea of what the problem is!

Hey it's Nick from Milano Crew.

They would inform you if your account has been terminated, trust me.

Maybe theres no ads to display or somethings wrong with the code.
Try creating the ads again and pasting the new code in.

I did.

Hmm, when you open my site in IE, it gives an Error 403 instead of showing the ads. Weird.

Error 403? I think this has something to do with your host.
Probably not google.

That's not what I meant. The ad zones are now Error 403 pages. :S

I'm sorry to say, but I looked at the site for 1 minute and I see the problem.

You violated their terms of service.

You can only have the words "Ads" or "Advertisements" above ads. Support is encouraging people to click your ads in order to help you make money. That's against their TOS.

lol, but no, it's not that hard. Their site was obviously due for a payment, and that's when they check the site.

It's a reasonable thing to due. I'm positive they've checked my site before.

Gamescool you're wrong ^__^. My site was spidered by google several times, they would have banned me. And when you violate their TOA, your account is terminated and you are sent an email, my account hasn't been banned, the ads are just showing up 403 error pages. I posted on some google adsense forums, and I wasn't the only one with this issue.. They told me it was a common bug in adsense..

Damn you're stubborn, support isn't a violation of their TOA! Saying we support our partners and they support us isn't a violation. And they didn't stop paying me, I just received my monthly check this morning. I repeat, I am not banned.. yet ^^

I'm not really sure what you're arguing.

Taken directly from TOS:
"Web pages may not include incentives of any kind for users to click on ads. This includes encouraging users to click on the ads or to visit the advertisers' sites as well as drawing any undue attention to the ads. For example, your site cannot contain phrases such as "click here," "support us," "visit these links," or other similar language that could apply to any ad, regardless of content. These activities are strictly prohibited in order to avoid potential inflation of advertiser costs. In addition, publishers may not bring unnatural attention to sites displaying ads or referral buttons through unsolicited mass emails or unwanted advertisements on third-party websites."
and
"Publishers may not label the ads with text other than "sponsored links" or "advertisements."

I'm just trying to help, as I would NOT want to see one of my affiliates get their Google AdSesne terminated. I would just change it to be safe.

I'm not arguing. I just didn't put Support as in SUPPORT US! Just to refer to our partners..

Gamescool is dead on. Take it from a guy who makes more then your dad with Adsense, they'll be looking for a reason not to pay you. They don't really start snooping 'till round the 15th, before payment day (usually the 28th / 29th) and they'd be more then glad to nail you for a poor word choice.

They do explicitly disallow using any terms other then non sequetors like "Advertisment", "support" being one of them.

Check yourself before you mess yourself.

I've been using adsense for 2 years, I receive my check every month, hasn't been a problem since.. I highly doubt the word 'Support' above the ad and affiliates section is gonna get me banned.

OK, we've established that you're not going to change the word.

Anyway, so why aren't they showing up still?

Your sites pulling from pagead2.googlesyndication.com, same site mines pulling from, and my ads are working perfectly.

He mentioned something on msn about google not allowing ads on forums, so he's removed them to see if it makes any difference.
I beleive he's waiting for for a spider to crawl his site and see if theres any difference.

No, it's perfectly fine to have Google ads on forums I believe.

Also, a spider isn't going to do anything. Live people review the AdSense sites. I highly doubt Google sent me a check last month for $400 and didn't take a look at my site.

I met a guy on a forum, google told him he couldn't use ads on his forum.. Whatever, google emailed me, they said it was a problem with them and that they'll email me back when they resolve it.

Oh yeah, from what I've heard, it's not live people who review sites.. It's bots. Sounds weird though!
