i came up with an idea for a flash game system and even thought out all the extras and stuff.
basically the system is a small box, with a keyboard plugged into the front. has a usb port on the side plug ins on the back and the flash logo on top. all you have to do is go to a special site and download your favoite flash games for a small pirice. people submit there stufff to that site and the system has a 5 gb storage system. would go for about$ 150. like it?

So they'd be paying for something they could play for free? I can't see them queuing up for this one, son.

i say the games couldn't be sold unless they were tested by people first to make sure they don't suck and people buy it. they need critics on the site, or better yet, make it free. what would also be cool is to have flash on the system so you can make your own games.

Guys, come on, stop being jerks. It's not really a pc. It's just a harddrive that has flash player. It sounds like a good idea actually.

Why not just put the 150 bucks toward a better computer or Internet connection?

Maybe a good idea, but like alot of things, when it comes to it's practical use, it just doesn't work.

Why would we buy something that we can get for free on the internet via computer? Heck, why not just invent your own computer?

This once again goes back to the fact that Flash is a VIRTUAL machine. It requires an operating system to run within, and that requires a computer. So after you have your processor, hard disk, RAM, keyboard, mouse, joystick, USB port, software drivers, graphics and sound cards, you'll still need a version of Linux, or Windows or MacOS for Flash to run on...
... and then you may as well just have bought a PC, Mac or Linux box. Who'd buy a computer with that limited a scope anyhow?
Other than, say, XBox users... :p

the point of the keyboard is because flash games are all made with actionscript so either the flash code gets redone by pros or the kontroller is a keyboard

but what if the games were made by the best of NG? Tom Fulp, Dan Paladin, JackSmack, xx_weasel_xx, and granfaloon? these r my opinions of the best by the way..... they could create amazing games for the system

Well the first two make thier games under the guise of the Behemoth when they want to sell to a console. And a console's API (even if it's Renderware...) offers more power than a Flash environment does on any system.

As opposed to making games for real systems like Tom and Dan already do?
Why on earth would you bother trying to port the rather clunky and resource intensive Flash Player, when you could develop games tailored for the system in question.
You know, like every other handheld gaming device, ever?

What would be better, (I don't know if it has already been said but) is if it can with a little screen so that when you download the flash games to it. You could play them in the car, at a friends house etc..

Flash games, or animations at that, don't have a fixed screen size - everybody uses a different size - so I don't think that would work.
