Please explain to me the necessity of creating a new thread, rather than just piggy-backing off a closely related pre-existing thread.

Purpose of the Audio Forum Cleanup thread:
to allow users to help mods lock spam threads in the AF
Purpose of the Audio Portal Cleanup thread:
to allow users to help admins delete stolen audio from the AP

My point was to simply combine the two threads, being similiar, rather than just create another one. I think that in the future, if this idea does work out, it wont be as confusing. I also think it will lead to the original thread being utilized more, making all of us AF regs happy campers.

Umm, they're not related in any fashion. Spoon is talking about stolen audio, as in, someone ripping the latest Mint Royale CD, posting it up and saying, "L1ST3NZ 2 M3 1337s MUJ4X!!! L0L!!!"

How come at every sign of discussion and disagreement you people keep going more and more hostile?

There's a reason why this never worked the 2x someone tried to start it, I just don't remember the exact arguments.

The risk of them turning into flame wars is too high.

When people want attention from the moderators, they always make topics; by making topics, they are then adding clutter and giving the potential to ignite flame wars. Their response? FLAG IT. Don't go out in the open and propose it, just do it. We can't afford this on the verge of getting "revamped", the system is bound to change eventually, so don't initiate something you can't be responsible for.

This is especially for all the new regs, Spoon, War, etc: Observe before you take action. That's lesson one.

Well, I think this situation is different than the one you posted because the topic starter isn't a total nub. The reason this one got a little out of hand was because one guy misunderstood the premise of the topic and Spoon reacted a little harshly. And I guess I just fed the flames (no pun intended ... REALLY) after that. ; )

With that out of the way, this topic is a good idea and Spoon is right on the ball here. Let's make good use of this thread.

Well, I think this situation is different than the one you posted because the topic starter isn't a total nub.

Indeed he is; no posts, no music, no contribution to the thread or direction after it's creation, he just made it for the sake of making it, then another complete nub comes in and defends the topic for him, disintegrating into flamings.

But I have no problems in testing the concept. I think I was thinking of other instances of cleanup threads.

well neither have you. and this thread isn't necessarily only for people who rake the AP for stolen audio. it's also for people who stumble across something completely out of the blue. i dont exactly spend big chunks of my valuable time looking for stolen audio, so i haven't found anything yet.

will somebody post some possible stolen audio on here? please? i've been looking, andi haven't found anything yet, but i'm looking.
