Thast retarded. Why didnt you just turn up your gain on your amp, enable both pickups on your guitar and turn the gutair amp and a diffrent setting. Guantee it sounds better.

The pedal does have a proper name.. in this case you're probably just talking about a distortion pedal and distortion is definately not unique to Death Metal. And once again, System of a Down (although a good band) is far from Death Metal.

ok, you people, with the exception of the guy that said anal cunt, have no grasp of what death metal is. death metal is the metal comprised of goregrind, and other blacker metal bands like gorgoroth and 1349. aimless screaming and noise, and a general hatered for christianity makes death metal, not in flames and system of a down.

Bull shit. I don't have an overdrive on my amp, so I bought a Screamin' Blues pedal, backed up with a Dunlop Cry Baby, a BOSS Super Chorus, and the Death Metal pedal. Sounds better. Also I use what you suggested for my normal rock like Led Zeppelin, Green Day, Rush, and the like. I'm trying to get into a whole new set of music.

In Flames is classified as Melodic Death Metal (with Nu-Metal influences in their newer material)
System of a Down is borderline rock/nu-metal at best.
