I've always learned that MySQL is pronunced "My ESS CUE EL" Pronuncing My as a word and the letters S, Q, L individually. But I just watched a video tutorial and this fricken guy pronunced it "My SEQUEL" ...I was like wtf? Any info on this?

That's how MySQL says it's pronounced. The guy is semi-wrong, but some people pronounce it different ways.

Well, SQL is short for Structured Query Language. So you'd say it S Q L. But things like the Microsoft SQL Server (I think that's the one) is often referred to as Microsoft Sequal Server. I have no idea why, juts something silly I suppose.

Correct. I don't know why some people pronounce it other ways.

Quoted off of the official MySQL website:

The official way to pronounce “MySQL” is “My Ess Que Ell” (not “my sequel”), but we don't mind if you pronounce it as “my sequel” or in some other localized way.

I pronounce it as S Q L, but people might pronounce it as something else, because it can almost form a word. Just like Perl is an acronym, which stands for Practical Extraction and Reporting Language. But, we don't go around pronouncing it as P E R L, we pronounce it as Perl.
