Though it really didn't help too much, now did he?
Ok, for starters.
Most professional's go either for "very advanced and progressive" or "very catchy".
This is one of the things you should choose.
Melodies, as you know chords.
I also believe you know that your melodies should be reflected in your chord-choice.
It doesn't have to be, but if you're going for a "C minor" (example), You might want your melody at that moment to either have C, D# or G.
If you don't, this will result in dissonance.
Dissonance can be very neat in some situations, but as you're using Z3ta+, I do believe you're making trance/techno.
In candytrance, as it's so well formulated, there's very little of dissonance, as it tend's to kill a bit of the harmonic side.
The key to successful trance is really simplistic but catchy.
See B0unc3 for example, I checked him out after the "overrated artist" thread.
And he doesn't have something very technically advanced, but his stuff is great non-the-less, because of his songs have these "catchy" themes.
Another thing about trance, is that you might don't wanna go to the whole level of "Kick every one and third hit, bass every second and fourth."
That's just overused and really annoying.
If you can formulate your question a bit better, as in, what do you want help with.
I'm more than happy to respond and aid you in the future.
(feel free to differ here, as I'm no trance artist, I will stand corrected)
