How extreme would it have to be to have your account deleted?
Because im not always sure what is and isnt a spam thread, I always come back to the bss finding im banned because I replied to one.

Ok now I can write about the thred since hopefully im getting my picture..

Spam is bad, those who think it's funny should heck yes stop. It is killing the fourms and honestly trying to reply to topics isn't as much fun as it usted to be.

I remember back in 2000 the fourms where so much better. There where more quality posters and the topics where very interesting. But now it seems that all the fourms are garbage. And in my eyes the only good fourm is the Reg. Lounge in Politics which is sad.

So come guys/girls. Let's clean up the fourms and stop spamming the bbs up!

The spammers thing the spam is fun, but all this non-sense scares away more intelligent and mature posters. Many of these people don't want to be associated with the crap that is on these forums. If we clean this place up many people feel it would start attracting more mature users, such as some of the better Flash artists, etc.

how many mods dont come back any more
and how many older users who were very active and evoted tot he BBS and ng ingenral refuse to come back cause of the state of things

and no longer come aorund cause they got tired of what i was becomming

Right now the NG forums are known as a big cluster fuck and a joke to many in the online community. That's not something Tom or any of us really want. We would like to see the forums get cleaned up and be used by more people.

Your quite wrong. The only serious talk forum other than the inteligent posts by some people here is in the Political section. In the Flash Programming Clubs and Audio forums you dont act immature because the few regulars there will shove you out of the forums.

i know in the clubs and crew section i used ot not care if some one spammed or soetin like tha
tbut since there hav ebeen many crusade to close clubs and crew section totally...and to lock the ASM i dont give a seconed thought to reporting a spammer in the ASM
and if i thnk someone is spammin the section as a whole id report em if need be
but since i havnt had to do that yet i dont worry about it to much

Well, is it acceptable to be stupid for the sake of humor? For example, I can see that 60% of the "humor" passed aroudn here is crap, but I've seen many topics that would be considered spam but are very funny and intelligent. For example "So are we still friends?". Maybe you should be a little more throughout in explaining what is considered funny and witty or dumb and stupid.

Wade I know you already know this as well, But what about topics that have a purpose but they get deleted do to spammers who just feel the need to get rid of that topic or flammers who think the topic it stupid? I have seen stuff like this happen as well

That got deleted because of supposed abuse of character of one of the members. And whilst I don't agree, I see why it got deleted. Or at least what they mean with their reasoning.

It needs to be much easier to find than previously. Maybe add it to the rule below?

Politics can be about actual politics, religion, regimes,and lots more serious matters.
There used to be a time when i checked the politics forum, I really enjoyed being able to pour my opinions out and express my thoughts in detail, and those are my favourite sorts of posts to write.

However, generalising the whole forum about one measly subject, and then being wrong, is stupid.

If needs to be found easier, we could do it this way:

Instead of just checking a box that confirms that a user has read the rules, direct him/her to the rules page when he first tries to post. He/she might still not read the rules, but at least it'll decrease the number of these spam topics. Maybe. I don't know, I'm just trying to be helpful.

2000? You mean when we didn have mods, and we pictures spammed and there was a max of like 25 users who were all close and got along anyways since there wasnt much controversy and all the topics were pointless and spam, and that was the best year of the BBS? That 2000? Ya.
wouldnt call any of it QUALITY posts, its just more or less everyone spamming whatever, and turning everything into fun since there was so little of us and it all became a close community.

Well yes, I could see that, but I was just using it as an example, and I still believe it deserved only a lock.

I still have one more question, that being how many more mods will be added to the current roster, and when will we be expecting for they to be added.

once you make it to around 500 posts spaming inst to much funa dn take to much effort

I hate it when people post Bedn in Photoshop topics (With some white around him because they used Pain and didn't bother erasing the white) and say "OMG THIS NEEDED TO BE DUNE" or "I cnt beeleve none thawt of dis". Truth is, almost EVERYONE thought of it but didn't post it because it was unoriginal. I think Photoshop fads are fine and dandy, but not ones that are old. Posts like that are like spam because they usually have nothing amusing about them. I've seen parody threads that get made, have no entertainment value whatsoever, but live quite a while. Also, I guess some people who made spam topics, lurked and saw tons of spam topics, and followed suit.
More Mods would be nice, as long as they are online. A spam topic could be made while no Mods (or Admins are in General, fall to the 2nd page when the Mods (or Admins) are online. The topic could get bumped and this could repeat for who knows how long.

By the way, what happend to "Are We Still Friends?" I looked for it once, and it was gone.

They don't have enough resources to do that kind of thing, but as Wade said they should be getting newmods sometime soon and hopefully alot of judgement going into decideing who becomes a mod, becuase alot of the spam that comes from users intentionally are just to piss off the mods, but my original point was just to have mods that can be online alot, wont go crazy with power, and will realize why they are a mod (to clean he BBS and enforce no policy).
