This post may be a little bit muffled by the sounds of me deep-throating Wade's cock, but honestly, bravo, about fucking time. I've always been a fan of the BBS' style of riding the median between being a SomethingAwful where everyone tries way too fucking hard and every other forum where people post for no fucking reason. Lately though, I come on and all I see is the same old repetitive drek constantly reworded and reposted ad infinitum and replied to with the same derivitive responses.

Personally, I'd rather see, at any time, half the threads on the General Forums frontpage locked than to see it continue the downward slide that it's been moving in.

Also I don't post topics all that often. The spammers are posting multiple topics every day and from multiple accounts. You can't even begin to compare that to my occasional OH SNAP topic.

It's not going to happen. Newgrounds BBS doesn't attract enough intelligent or humerous people to acheive it.

i rember a time when there was only like 5 mods and spam was what rulledthe forums...intelegent conversation was a hope of the future...then the site got some huge updates and a shit laod of mods...and still there was sooo much spam...we even had a club devoted to spam...obsesive complusive posters...wowo

That's true, but would and could you ban everyone who insults someone without offering constructive critiscism? I don't think so, and because you're human you take it personal because it was directed at you, and got even more pissed off, than you already were (which I believe, is pretty pissed off at the spam, which I do understand)

I do have to add to this, that I know banning people isn't part of your daily routine, but if you want to stop spam, you may want to try to inform the mods better on the fact they are allowed to ban people who insult others for no reason, I don't believe more mods would solve a thing at this point.

Being a little more serious though Wade than my last post I have a little more to say on the subject.

The "good users" or experienced users or whatever you want to call them generally keep to their own topics and make good topics. They don't really need your encouraging to do it and they will continue to do it.

The reason for all the nonsensical spam is simply that there are too many people here who are here because they have nothing to do. They aren't interesting or funny people, they are never going to be, but they will try none the less. The site attracts that kind of people. Perhaps your suggestion for harsher modding is what is needed, perhaps it isn't.

This place has never exactly budded and bloomed with intelligence, and most of us don't ever expect it to.

So the mod thing. Who are you considering as a mod canidate?

But isn't all the repetitive bollocks stuff like console wars, questioning the sexuality of cartoon characters, emos and all that shite? All of this stuff is utter drivel but the majority of it is allowed because it's not spam.

I'd rather see a crack down on this sort of stuff than the spam topics, which can on occasions, rarely of course, be funny.

Question: What about the occasional Mod topics that are basically spam? I know they don't happen all that much but are they going to be cracked down on by yourself and the other administrators? They don't happen that often but if you're going to have a crackdown on spam then I would hope you would include Moderators in this as well, especially as when they make a spam topic it only encourages others to spam as they see it as a sign that it's fine to follow suit.

Sadly that day will never come. Don't forget there are new users who come to the BBS everyday and there will be a bunch of them who are spammers. Then there are those annoying alts that people use to spam as well. While this may mover the number of spam topics I doubt it will elimate them all

But this is a large threat on posters. I know it will clean a lot of topics, but a lot of users can pull off pointless threads. Iunno, its just because, we have like 50 mods, and they all have different opinions of pointless threads and spam threads, so you know that some of the bans and locks arent going to be very justified rather on just personal opinion, when other mods might disagree, like views on alts, and spam are already different from mods. So iunno, i just see more drama
