It took some time and a lot of trial and error, but once you finally get it shooting like it's supposed to, it's amazing. Cleaning it out for the 98 C wasn't really hard either. All I had to do was shove my squeegee through the place where the feedneck is and that was it. It did chop some paint for me, but I have the OLD 98 C way before they had ACT for it.
the flatline barrel is pretty much a picky inaccurate paint lobber, but thats from about 80% of the reviews and videos i've seen, and is hard to clean out on the field, luckily, its not like the apex barrel (will get to that in a mo) and is made out of proper materials and won't break as easily
seriously? i might grab one then, get an apex later on, i tend to bash my marker around a bit, sliding around and crashing into bunkers, ect
all the twiddling might annoy me, but hey, its something to do

If you do decide to get a flatline, just remember that you NEED to shoot it to see if it's working like it's supposed to. It took me about a full hour to get it perfect, but whenever I use it, I know that it was completely worth it.
ok, so C02 filled, then i grab a flatline, got it *gives thumbs up* thanks
will be getting a few things first, like the paintball pistol (mainly for kicks, just take out a pistol and 2 ten rd tubes) and i'll have to repair my red dot sight and get a sight riser for it (don't ask why, i just want to have one)

Sup airsoft & paintball. I just bought a pair of shitty Chinese spring guns. One is a G36K and the other is an MP7 that the forward grip broke off of when I brought it home. Any ideas on fixing it? Just a small crack that will break the foregrip off if I don't fix it.
only suggestion i have is going down to your nearest shop and asking them, if not, i have no idea

The problem with that idea is that the shop is 350km away.
Went to the DarkOps game. There was so much cheating on the other team. There were 100 more people on the other team, whenever they got shot they wiped it off and kept playing, and one guy was using riot balls. Some guy had to go to the hospital! My friends and I did well, but the game itself was a sham.

Seriously?! What a fucker. You should report people like that to the field, they might actually do something about it. People who cheat have no skill. I'm glad paintball is an honor sport, because it weeds out the cheaters from the people who play the game like it's supossed to be played.

You have NO IDEA how wrong you are... Teams actually PRACTICE WIPING for legit tourneys. Even one of my teammates does it. These are tournaments with up to 8 refs per field, and they still do it without getting caught. One example, if you're hit on the hopper, switch hands but take your hand over the gun and wipe it right off. That's the most common. If you're shot in the hand, come in to your bunker and press up against it like you're about to run or snap. Wipe it off on the bunker. That's all I'm saying because I don't want anyone getting ideas. Basically, the only way to get someone out for sure is a face shot in the lens. If you don't hit them there, good chance that they can and will wipe it. Paintball lost all of it's honor years ago. Personally, I think that people who played once or twice before have more integrity than some of the teams in my division. Pros might me the only legit division as far as wiping goes. So you're best off getting used to it. Also, new sponsor, Zap.
yeah, wiping annoys me to no end, i took out 4 people after sneaking around for an entire woodsball match so i could finish it off and win it for us, and i had 3 of the 4 wipe! dammit!
you go sponsored by zap? cool, i have a big batch of there paintballs sitting here

They WERE reported. That one guy had to be taken to the hospital! But they didn't do jack shit about it!
I just went to Academy Sports, it's this huge sports store we just got here in El Paso, and to my suprise they were closing out the Tippmann stuff. I grabbed a drop forward and the flatline for a total of $70! I am totally psyched. I wasn't going to get that barrel after previous posts, but for half price I couldn't turn down the opportunity. I'm going to install it tonight. I know hell-frog mentioned something about proper install. Let me know what you meant by that.

thats why when i play i play vitals only. i dont like the fact that if it breaks on your toe your out. i dont know though i usually just stick with airsoft. its a hell of alot more fun cause you can get more into senario games.

That's cool. I've played a couple of times, (paintball), and my friends and I decided that 3 shots to extremities, (any combo) or 1 shot to the torso or head is a kill. We play with anywhere from 8 to 16 guys. This makes the game last a little longer and it's more fun for everyone. Again, the honor system is a must. I can't speak for everyone, but honesty is part of my character.

good to see some honest players, i really hate it when i shoot 5 or 6 guys out and 2 at most will go out, and i get hit by the people who have just wiped, its just annoying

I am an honest player. Although paintballs don't really hurt that much, I will probably flinch or hop out of the way when I am hit.

natural reaction, i can understand that, just shout "hit" or something, its normally enough the let people know

You guys shouldn't be worrying so much about cheaters. Yeah it's annoying and it pisses everyone off, but you all just play for fun (I think). I assume you've told refs about cheaters, so try and talk to the manager or owner of the field. Become kinda close with him/her so that your opinion actually matters, then any time you find a wiper, tell him and he will ban them. Worked for me, so hopefully it'll work for you guys too. I'm guessing everyone in this club is a monthly paintballer at the least, so get to know everyone who works there. It helps out a lot and you have a much better time.
If worse comes to worse, you can always play like a little dirtbag and bonus ball them. That's the second thing I hate most. First being wiping and third WAS paint not breaking. Zap is amazing, so #3 isn't a problem anymore. But, yeah. I'm not saying cheat or anything like that because that would be wrong, I'm saying let them know that they are out. Being screaming at them to get out (draws attention to that player for another minute at least) or sometimes throw him some extra paint. Just don't be a fag to legit people is all. We lost 2 places in the finals last season due to wipers, so anytime I catch one when I'm playing for fun, I tell the manager or give him some extra paint.
thats the thing, the refs don't always see, if i came in covered head to toe in paint because of bonus balling, they can't tell who it was unless the guys come in with me, and if he has I'll have talked to him myself, i play monthly, and out of 7-8 times i've been to this field, theres only been one time where we've had a group that hasn't played like assholes (serious bonus balling, running way out of the tapeline, ECT) or wiped, i don't mind so much, but its annoying

Ok. Yesterday, I finally got to field test the flatline barrel on my Tippmann 98. I managed to round up about 14 players and we went to a new field. The field was designed very well. Plenty of space to run and lots of well place bunkers.
My verdict on the barrel is not yet finished. I found that many of my shots would hook or slice at the last second. This was frustrating when I knew I had a good bead on my target. Most of those shots were at about 70 to 100 feet, though. I guess I can't be too picky seeing that I am shooting a ball and not a bullet. I will make some adjustments. I think I may be able to dial it in with a slight twist to the barrel. Short range shots, on the other hand, were dead on. I had multiple kill shots on targets that were barely peeking over their cover. Good times.

So I have a Tippy 98C, wonderful gun, strong and shoots like a beast.
I'm more of a scenerio or woodsball, tactical is my game, not so much in the speedball thing.
When I first got the gun I went to pull it off of the counter and slammed it down on a 8in. wooden counter by accident. Nothing happened, no ding, no scratch, no breaks. Despite being a used gun there are no problems with it what-so-ever (supposably they are test models for the company or something).
I have yet to mod it in anywya since I have a sheer lack of cash currently, but i was thinking of maybe a E-Trigger. What do you all think of this peice? Are there any other things to use with this?
I was also thinking of a barrel, I really like the look of the J&J Ceramic barrels, they seem like they would be a good pick, not only for style, but for general use. Thoughts on this?
Also, I've been using many different types of paint (mostly whatever I can get), but mostly I just buy "Monsterballs" as I can get 2000 for about $26, but I also received about 1500 or other kinds over
Christmas. So far I havn't had any breaks with the Monsterballs, but do you have any preferances? Preferably cheap though.

We need more speedball and tourney players here. I actually have a question about something...
jack, if you want to use an e.trigger, just remember that you will need batteries and you'll have to unscrew the rubber grip and turn it on every time you want to play, and you'll need a cyclone hopper of something that feeds balls faster then a gravity feed
i personally am getting a response trigger and cyclone feed, i then have a marker that will shoot fast without batteries, look into them, if your still set on e grip, then by all means, buy one, its still a good grip, just remember to buy a decent hopper before you try firing at full auto, or even 3 shot burst, or you'll get paint chopping galore

Ok thank you Dog' I currently have a VL Hopper (from my first gun) it has an agitator but that doesn't always ensure that the balls don't get stuck. So I should buy a good hopper before I buy an E-Trigger, I'll look into prices at my local PBSports store.
So are there any "rules" I should know about? I've never actually played a game yet (as I'm broke right now and still need some "male" protection lol) and I was watching a vid where the camera man snuck up on a person, within 1 foot, and instead of shooting the guy so close he leaned over and said "Go out so I don't have to shoot you." So are there any little things I shouldn't do? I've already heard of bonus-balling, wiping, etc.
Hopefully now that it's warming up for the summer I can find a small job (I'm only 14 lol) so I'm not so broke all the time.

ZombieCrew SurvivalRP Siggy by Thimbles
yeah, i would consider buying a nice hopper first
rules, ok, i can give you woodsball rules, hell-frog is the speedball guy if you want speedball rules, so ask nice :)
woodsball rules 101
if you take your mask off, the field will probably give you a warning for the first time, the second time, your out for the day, its NEVER a good idea to take it off while people are playing and your not in the safe zone, they'll say this at the field, but its never too early to have it drummed in
you wipe, you get lots of complaints about you and can be kicked off the field, i might as well drum this in now, even though you know, i've seen people do it, although you seem like an honest guy
there sometimes is a "surrender rule" pretty much if you get close to a player, aim at him (preferably at his shoe, your up close an all) and ask him to surrender, this saves the new guys taking hits at close range and freaking out over it, although if they turn around and try and shoot you, fine, shoot them first, they didn't surrender
they'll have tape or something around field, go past this, and the refs can kick you out of the game for doing it, be aware
ask the field about this, but in capture the flag at my fields hits to the flag don't count, so we use it to block shots as we run in with it, you can do the same with your marker, but again, ask the refs
its not an official rule, but in woodsball, never purposely put the barrel of your marker on somebody else, i mean touching, not close range, some people get annoyed with this, so its generally nicer for everyone if you don't
don't pick up paint off the floor and load it into your marker, it can jam your marker up
the refs will probably tell you all of this, but its good to know, also some of this might not apply to all fields, so ask before you do

Just wanted your opinion on a new gun. As you know, I like to play front and sometimes get stuck with mid, so I need a marker that will allow me to play both positions well. I'm still going to keep my gun, just because I built it from the ground-up, but I need a more...stable and reliable gun.
So here are my top picks:
The Bob Long Marq 6 paintball marker:
This gun is more than fast enough with 30+ bps with tadao board installed. It has a very fast bolt speed, less than 30 oz. low profile, and very consistent regulator for more reliable shots. This is a great gun that is somehow flying under the radar. Not a lot of people realize how good this gun really is. I say it's better than any Ego for my style of play.
Second choice:
Dye DM8:
This is really more of a mid and back gun, but it's still once of the best overall guns on the market. Anyone who plays paintball knows Dye. They receive world recognition for their extremely low profile, light weight guns. The DM series has always promised a straight steam of paint that will go for most of-if not all of the field. The only problem with this gun is I'm not sure if it can really be used effectively in the front. Still fast, light, and low profile, this is still a great gun.
It comes down to this: Should I get the Marq 6 for front and try and use it for mid, or should I get the DM8 for mid and try to use it for front? The difference isn't much, but when you're playing against great opponents, everything counts. Honestly, I think I'll be more comfortable with the Marq 6, but I want to hear what you guys think.
It's always good to hear opinions from both ends of the paintball world.
from that, the bob long looks much better, i would consider using that for woodball play, but i've head nothing but good things about the dm8
out of the 2 i would still buy the bob long

So today it was great outside and I decided to pop out my PBGun and fire off some rounds with my dad before he went to work. If I havn't said it yet, my gear for my 98C is: VLQuantum hopper, stock barrel, and a remote line with 9oz. CO2 tank. So we went into the allyway and just started shooting some glass bottles, trying to see how far away we could hit them (I was 4 houses away when he said we had to move up...). I let my cousin shoot off a few rounds, as well as he freind.
I noticed a few things though that I found odd to say the least...
-Why does the 98C Stock barrel have holes right in the middle of the barrel? Wouldn't you want the ball to have the same pressure all thoughout the barrel so it gets more speed during the time spend?
-The "sights" on the 98C are kinda useless to me at least, obviously hitting a person's body would be easy without sights, but if I'm just messing around in my yard it's better to just look down the crease above the cocking hammer (is that the right words lol?). Because looking on top of the gun blinds me off any droppingof the ball, so looking down the side lets me get a pretty accurate shot.
- The remote line is wonderful...if you have a harness. I bought it so the tank wouldn't bang into everything when I turned but without a harness I don't know where to put it. Though now it's very comforatable to put it next to my neck and hold it with my head, as I naturally tilt my head when I aim.
-The remote line is great, but when your done you lose alot of CO2 when you have to clear the line of the gas...granted it only cost me $1 to fill a 9oz. tank (woohoo!).
These wouldn't stop from playing, they wouldn't stop me from buying these products, they're just things I thought were strange...
----------------------------------------
----
So I want to ask, what was your most embarresing time while dealing with a paintball gun?
Mine would have to be whne I read that you need to turn over/mixe up big quantities of paintballs, so I go to my room and try to turn of a crate of 2000 MonsterBall paintballs, the plastic crate pops open and I spill them all over...hate it when I don't think. Anyway I found it funny as I was cleaning it all up.
