Agreed, but for some reason the public wants pop punk.

The type of punk that isShitty gay-ass punk that complains about how they "lost their one love and are now alone in the dark", fuck that.

Punk should be about random shit, and have no emotional meaning (except hate ofcourse). Thats what I reckon anyways.

Book of Anima 22:32 " Do not profane my awesome name. I must be acknowledged as awesome by the Newgrounders. I am the LORD of music, who makes you awesome."

Pop-death metal already exists.

Cannibal Corpse is a band I would consider to be pop-death metal.

That doesn't neccesarily mean they're bad though. People get the terms "pop" and "bad" confused.

Pop isn't neccesarily a music genre, it's just music that is 'popular'. If over night, everyone suddenly started listening to Insidious Decrepancy and they were played on all major radio stations, then they too would be come pop. Not by genre, but by definition.

well, although you are right about the whole pop not being a genre but mearly being popular, there is a genre of pop. that is what i mean by pop deathmetal. if someone delves the two together, ill be the first kill them.

Im god, fucking deal with it!

It would certainly sound interesting :P

How would you mix the two? Would it be sickly sweet lyrics and vocals over blastbeats and tremelo picking? Or would it be guttural growls over a bubblegum backing track? It would be almost like...a bipolar style of music.

This is something I might investigate further...maybe do a few mashups :P

well, to make a pop/death metal meld, it would be most likley be slightley less complex guitar working, whilst still being drop tuned, drum beats would most likeley be replaced entirley, to that of a synthesies drum effect. the vocals would be death growls, but most likley would be all fuckin emu bullshit with the lyrics. and then, i would show up in the mirros with one of my swords of the creators house, to eliminate him, and then id make it into a detah metal song :D

Im god, fucking deal with it!

Give me an hour or so, I'm going to see what I can come up with.

Would the drums still be blast-beats, or more radio-friendly?

Actually...scratch that. I'm of the opinion that this will be nigh on impossible, and i'm no good at writing angsty, heartfelt lyrics...the track would be littered with laughter.

On the contrary Anima_Theory, I think that punk is all about emotion. A wild, carefree emotion that changes the listeners' attitude to a superlative jofullness.

I especially love the clash. :)

But yes, you are right Anima, the mainstream pop culture victimized traditional punk. What a horrible tragedy with all of the lame emo bands that gained popular interest.

Umm, real punk?

Since when were Bad Religion, Pennywise, and Social Distortion real punk?

That's what I call pop-punk.

And SLC Punk is a bullshit, poser, and inaccurate movie.

Man i love the ways these threads always end up going wildly off subject. A pop death metal cover its raining men?! lol though i have heard a death metal cover of "toxic" by britney spears, and children of bodom did "oops i did it again" :s
